Maybe she needs a family intervention and mum,dad and hubby (with brother in tow)all turn up...I know pretty far flung. I don't think it's far flung. Interventions work. But I think her family's multiple issues, instead of Abby's issues, would become the focus in a family intervention. In this case, maybe the "family" should be people she is close to at work. I agree there, Maybe that's what Pratt and Frank are trying to do (episode 6)

No!!! Please, no Eric, ever again!
Seriously, I can see Eddie playing a role. I, too, didn't think that story was fully told last season (but then, tptb do sometimes drop stories... I always wanted to see more of the Alderman in Kerry's story, and wondered what happened with all the old people that Elizabeth treated but who died.)

I think they were talking about Luka's brother not Eric.

Interventions don't work as often as television likes to portray. They're effective for wrangling junkies into detox/rehab and once in awhile for forcing minors into treatment for various issues, but it's pretty rare that an intervention does any good in a case like this except to piss people off. Abby's had a couple of benders at this point - not something any phsychologist in their right mind would recommend an intervention for. A trip to AA, yes. Some counseling, absolutely. Calling in two manic depressive relatives who tend to cause more trouble than good? Not a chance in hell.

I was thinking that the two main contributors to Abby's alcoholism in my opinion.. her manic depressive mother and abandoning father maybe helpful in what appears to be her need for rehabilitation and recovery....not that I'm sure how they could help her alcoholism other than support her. We know Abby is an alcoholic..we know she used to go to AA meetings and we have heard her talk about being an alcoholic..we have even seen her drink before..but I don't remember her being drunk or unable to function as far as I remember we have only seen the outset of how she has had to deal with her alcoholism. Now from what most spoilers indicate..we are about to see Abby start to drink and we are going to see how this affects her and what it does to her both professionally and personally and things are going to get a lot worse than we have ever seen her...we are going to see first hand Abby the alcoholic begin to lose control and the people closest to her (Work colleagues) will probably notice the changes first. How Luka finds out or deals with it..I don't know as he seems to have taken the subject pretty lightly previously in my opinion. Maybe you're right..my only perception of Interventions are only those I have seen acted on TV so the likelihood of Luka rounding up the family for an intervention is probably pretty slim..I just thought it would have been a nice gesture on their part albeit naive on mine. I think Maura will to sink her teeth into these story lines and we will see some great acting...which will partially heal me from the loss of Goran.

Maggie and Eric would have me reaching for the bottle; they'd probably finish Abby off!

Well...all I really have to say is that I hope people recognize Maura's amazing acting skills in these storylines and she gets herself a well-deserved Emmy for this come next year...

I ABSOLUTELY agree with you. I'm pretty sure she'd do an extraordinary job, we might see Maura's acting in a level we haven't seen before and I really hope the people at the EMMYS finally recognize her amazing job. It'd be a WELL DESERVED AWARD for her. All I have to say is: GO MAURA!, GO MAURA!, GO MAURA!**Viviana**

At this moment I'm not to happy with how this is all going. But the only thing keeping me happy is the fact that we all know Maura will put it an amazing performance and that i have my ER back on a Monday night! hehe.

Well I thought Maura looked great in the pic, but I guess it's Sandra whose the one looking great. I'm glad it's fake though.
