I'm struggling to get my head round the complete ridiculousness of Luka offering Abby a beer. Are we supposed to think he left his brain in Croatia? I get that they may need to address the alcoholism explicitly but why do they have to make Luka into a complete moron to do it? The only explanation I think I'll actually be content with at the moment is momentator at AEB's - the writers screwed up and it's meant to be Niko saying that line, not Luka (it's plausible as it's sort of just after Abby and Niko have greeted each other). Otherwise the whole thing is just weird - it can't have escaped Luka's notice that Abby hasn't been drinking the entire time they were together before they went away, he knows she's an alcoholic and unless she's told him she's started drinking, why would he think she wants a beer? Plus why would she hide the vodka drinking if he does know about it (but believes it's her problem to sort out)? Unless they really *do* want to make Luka into a moron for obscure story purposes.

Yes ... typo in script, just like mixing up Jasna and Daniella. I could live w/ that.

Hmm...had a thought. Maybe it will be NIko that recognizes that Abby has a problem that Luka has been unwilling (clueless??) to deal with. Could be the reason for him being there actually. Everyone else is too close to the situation to either see it or tell her to deal with it. Now a 'close stranger' can say it and get it out in the open without causing any animosity within the current ER social structure. Me thinks I need to dig out the Psych 101 books again......sigh.

Funny you should say that Larue ... I had posted that I thought it would be Luka's brother who recognized Abby's drinking problem, although I thought perhaps he too may have been an alcoholic. Guess if he's having a beer, that may not be the case.

Except alcoholics drinking doesn't seem to be a problem with the writers at the moment.
I hope it's the brother who asks because my telly will be at real risk if it's not.

LOL ... so true. I'm really not too familiar with how spoiler information is obtained, so I have a question. Could it be that misleading information is deliberately put out so that the real storylines aren't spoiled?

I am really confused about how they are going to take this story. I mean, we all know that Abby has fallen back to alcoholism, but why would Luka offer her a beer? That's no help at all!
Seoncdly, what's up with ABby puking? Really happy to see him and ashamed of her drinking? Doesn't want to tell him about the night at Moretti's? Ugh...I can't wait for this season to start...I need some answers!

usually they change so much stuff in these scripts, I'm sure they'll work it out untill than. Maybe he won't even offer beer maybe he'll offer a drink and she'll say a soda. Or maybe his brother will offer - I hardly think it'll be played out like this!
Remeber the scene where Luka, Abby and Joe would be laying on a bed together, that never happened, things change

Perhaps he's had a few beers already and was tired and didn't realize what he said.

I think it sounds like Luka may have found her alcohol stash and his reference to "Do you want a beer" is a polite way of telling her he knows she has had a drink...he just doesn't realise yet how bad things have gotten and his cavalier attitude is not going to cut it this time. I think after the initial lovey dovey reunion there is gonna be some big arguements and some fingers pointed and this is one helleva time for Luka to introduce Abby to his brother! Hope Niko likes fireworks

LOL ... so true. I'm really not too familiar with how spoiler information is obtained, so I have a question. Could it be that misleading information is deliberately put out so that the real storylines aren't spoiled? What we call spoilers are casting information. They do not put out false story lines for the purposes of casting guest characters. They are meant for acting auditions not for fans to read. The accuracy is only ever questioned when fans read things they do not like in the spoilers. No one questions the likelihood of the actions that they wish to see. It is also not a typo as that would be entirely too difficult based on script formatting to assign the wrong name to a speaking character. What appears on the page is sometimes changed or more often, filmed and then cut from the final product either because it ultimately serves no story telling purpose or for time.

they would make a whole different story if luka offers the drink. but also i remember them changing their minds when, in if not now abby asks luka if he is looking for someone to have a baby with and he answers "is that so bad? doesn't make me differet from most people". they did change that and in my book it was a complete turnover. for story purposes. maybe they will, maybe it'll all make sense later.

Luka *does* offer her the beer.
He goes on to say he and his brother are taking the baby to the park the next day, can she come.
Abby says she may be working then she makes herself a cocktail in a soda can.
