I won the script from Blackout on eBay and it's great! There isn't that much changed from what we eventually saw on the air, but it's still really cool to read the script direction. The major differences I noticed were the cut scene between Moretti and his wife, and Abby calling Luka's name when she woke up at Moretti's apartment.
Oh, it's also interesting that they noted (in the bar scene) that Moretti is "a bit inebriated, though it's hard to be sure."

Congrats for getting the script. I think the scene was perfect when Abby wakes up at Moretti´s place - they did a good thing changing it.
Since the very first time I saw the pub scene Moretti seemed to be a little drunk to me (well, not Abby´s kind of drunk, but still...).
I´m a Stanley fan and he could be a great addition to the show as regular cast member. Of course far far away from Abby´s bed.

Tara, this is like, totally obsessive... -- but I was wondering if it was described how Abby was to call Luka's name? Like, was it as if she was waking up from a dream? Or as if she were calling out to him because she didn't know where he was?
Sorry, but I just can't stop thinking about how she would have said it.

Hey Bree - sorry I didn't see your post until now! I'll check the script when I get home.

Hey, Tara -- no problem. I didn't see that you'd replied either. If you're able to check it that would be fantastic, thank you. I'm dying to know if there was any description. Also, as hard as this is to ask -- because then I actually have to think about it -- but I was wondering if there were any descriptions of feelings in the part where Abby, you know... does the unspeakable? And at the end of the episode, as she sits in the airport with Joe -- where there any other descriptions of her feelings/actions etc.? Thanks for this.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get around to doing this, I just kept forgetting!
This is the scene direction for Abby waking up at Moretti's:
On Abby's face. Asleep, in a bed, in a dark room. Moonlight across her face. From another room, across the darkness, comes a bump, someone's knee hitting a piece of furniture, and...
Male Voice: Damn it.
Abby stirs, sits up in bed, looks around. She realizes she is naked, pulls up the sheet, sees her clothes on the floor. She doesn't look good and doesn't remember anything - where she is, how she got there, what the past six hours have been. It's a man's bedroom, it seems - a shirt slung over the closet doorknob, a watch and cuff links on the bureau top.
But she's truly lost, looking around, perplexed.
Abby (mutters): Luka?
Suddenly the power resumes - an overhead light flickers, the clock radio flashes, a lamp pops on. Abby squints, it's too bright. She looks out through the doorway, sees across the apartment. Moretti, in sweats and a tee, standing at a kitchen counter. He's leaning there, a glass of water before him, an aspirin bottle, a flashlight, rubbing his head. Oh f*ck....it hits Abby. F*ck f*ck f*ck.
Moretti turns, they meet eyes. He's troubled too, but smiles through it. An awkward, tepid attempt at reassurance.
Moretti: Power's back.
Off Abby, naked in another guy's bed.
********************
And here's the direction for the last scene at the airport:
Abby sitting on the bench, disheveled, dazed, her hair a mess, a small cut on her forehead. Baby Joe is asleep in her lap. The open duffel bag at her feet.
As we push in slowly, the flat, hollowed look in her eyes gives way to the flicker of faint, fractured memories...
In bed - Moretti's lips on her belly; Abby's fingers gripping tight to his shoulder.
Living room - He presses her against the wall and they kiss
In bed - Abby and Moretti intertwined, naked, both sitting up, her legs slung over his thighs, moving in sync
The sofa - He unbuttons her shirt
Abby's face - wasted, lost in the empty thrill of it all.
Back to airport, push in on Abby. After a moment, the lights go dead, semi-darkness, Abby barely in silhouette. Off which we go out, end of show.

(Thought I'd pop in here, too).
Thank you very much for doing that.
It's not weird that I cried, right? Or that I now feel sick? Or that I totally regret reading that last part?

Hey, I threw a pillow at the TV when I watched it, my words after the episode were. "I need a drink."
I wish the stage direction of moretti wearing a shirt stayed in, we did not need to see him shirtless. I do think Tucci is sexy... but with a shirt on.

I have a couple of friends who also find Tucci incredibly sexy. I can't say I agree with them, but I do think he's a great actor!
I'm thankful that the flashbacks we ended up seeing weren't quite as graphic as the ones described in the script. I don't think I could've handled seeing Abby and Moretti "intertwined, naked, both sitting up, her legs slung over his thighs, moving in sync." Yikes. (Wish we could've gotten a Luby love scene like that, though! LOL)

You might see something like that on HBO or skinamax, but that discription is way too graphic for network TV. I think if it is a sex scene like Abby/Moretti was, it would not be allowed, but if it were like you said Tara a Luka/Abby LOVE scene, it could possibly be allowed. Context is important.
Edited to add: When I told my mom that I got Tucci's autograph through the mail she asked me if I yelled at him in my letter. I did not, but I did tell him it was a shame that his sole purpose on the show was to take a drunk Abby to bed. It was a waste of his talent.

I totally agree it was a waste! We were so excited when "the Tooch" joined the show and really loved Moretti's character in those first few episodes (sort of like when you kind of love Weaver yelling at people). But then...Blackout...ugh. I remember my roommate and I were like "Please tell me she passed out drunk before anything happened". And then when it was over we were like nauseated. When S14 came out on DVD this spring I couldn't bring myself to watch Blackout. Still wish TBTP never took it that far.

Oh, god. Me too. I wish -- I wish it had only been the drinking. But I get that it was maybe necessary for story-telling and dramatic purposes, adding to the culmination of Joe being hurt and stuffing up that tumor case and drinking at work. But yeah, I wish it hadn't gotten that far.
(It's funny how the infidelity thing almost kind of overshadows the fact that Abby drove DRUNK WITH JOE IN THE CAR. I think people forget about that, and how it's probably worse than cheating on her husband. That is the one thing I think she'd wish she could take back more than any thing else she did. No doubt about that. So incredibly reckless and stupid).
And there is no way on Earth I'd have been able to handle anything any more explicit than what we already saw. No effing way.

Thank God for standards and practices and the censors at NBC. The discription in the script was borderline porno, perfectly fine IMO if it was Goran and Maura but not the Tooch and Maura.

I don´t think I could handle more than we already saw either. But I have to confess this is one of my fav episodes, JUST because I think Maura was suberb. And we have to agree that it takes balls to get a storyline like this one (it could destroy the character). At the end I was extremely sad for her, not mad, not hurt, not even disapointed. I wish I could hold her in that airport scene and make her stop crying. Maybe I´m alone, but I´m glad they made clear they had sex.(well, THAT clear was not necessary) I would hate that thing unclear: did they? or not???

I hate that it's one of my favourite episodes, because it means that I constantly crave watching it but I won't because I really just can't handle what happens.
And see, as much as I was sad for Abby, I definitely couldn't say that I didn't feel hurt or disappointed or angry at her. Absolutely was I all those things at some point or other throughout the episode.
I watched "Blackout" the other day actually, and it took me three hours to get through it completely, but every time I had to pause the DVD player and compose myself, it would add to this realisation that it's like I was kind of going through the seven stages of grief. Not in any specific order, really, and that's not to say I was going through each of them, either, but I mean, every time I watch the disbelief is there -- and on first viewing, so was the denial -- as is the anger and the hurt, obviously. And while it’s not so much bargaining as it is trying to desperately understand, there are still similarities in that department. It’s the acceptance thing that I probably struggle with most – accepting that it happened and that it can’t be changed. I guess that’s where the hope comes in. And that part is a whole lot easier to contend with when we know that everything turns out okay for them, eventually.
I get what you’re saying about being glad it was made clear what transpired that night, Sissa, and I agree -- even though I wish it didn't have to. But yeah, it could have been an absolute mess had they made it a guessing game.
