If she is limiting her appearances, perhaps it's simply to give ample time to the remaining characters to tie up their storylines, as well, especially if it is indeed ER's last season Luka and Abby had seven years invested in their characters' careers and emotional growth, their relationship and their families. Once this last issue is addressed with them, there's really nothing left except for them simply to be them.

Well if she is leaving mid-season, I would be disappointed because I wanted to see her interact with Carter while he was there. I mean they were friends before they went out, and now it just seems like they don't care about each other, esp by the way Carter left on his final episode. O well, we will see.

Perhaps they'll all reunite toward the end of the series?

Okay, so it's come to my attention the reason many people are "convinced" she's leaving mid-season. Maura is not - I repeat not - pregnant. You can take a look at photos of her at events in August and September and notice that's she's consumed both alcohol and caffeine. Which is not something a pregnant woman worth her salt would do. Settled? Who has brought up this story except for you? However if this is to be an argument cafeine and limited alcohol are forbiden depending on the doctor - It's not ruled out completely - A friend is pregnant with a little girl she consumes a glass of coke a day, and she may occassionaly have a glass of wine and so on. However the only time I did see Maura in an event holding a glass of something it seemed to be coke at Stamos's house. But yes, we know Maura said she doesn't want kids, though a person can change her mind, and accidents can happen, look at GV and his problem. But I don't think Maura is pregnant and I also don't think the subject was brought up untill you came speculating things from a setence - personal issues can mean a thousand things.

Perhaps they'll all reunite toward the end of the series? I hope so. Who knows, as long as the Luby storyline ends realistically and happy.

Yeah, I just thought I'd throw that out there given that I've heard from a little birdie that it's the going rumor. And anyhow, I don't give a rat's heiney any longer. The speculation around these parts is just out of hand. Have fun with your theories.

People believe what they want to believe in, no one can diktate in what to believe in. And thank I will in fact have fun with my theories, as said they're MY theories. Though before I do, just a warning, thoughts and believes, theories, are not the same for everyone. We all have different believes, thoughts, it's in the history of the world since cultures are already very different. Ridiculizing one's believes, theories and thoughts it's desrespectful and racist! Hum, I keep remebering great minds who were once ridiculized by their own theories such as that the world was round while everyone was so sure it was square.

Maura is not - I repeat not - pregnant. What? Who asked this? Have I missed something in here?
It isn't a sin either to consume caffeine or alcohol once in a while while you're pregnant as long as it doesn't turn to a routine. No-one can elaborate such statement by the couple of appearances at some events. Besides I guess no-one in here implied she was pregnant, right?
I was wondering the same thing
If she's leaving (which I wish NOT) I'm sure she has very important reasons to do so, she loves that show and I think for her (if she's indeed leaving) could have been a huge decision at this point. Those important reasons are only acknowledge by her and probably some close friends and family, I don't think we should speculate on her reasons, they could be plenty or only one, who knows?

Specualte?? One wouldn't have to speculate too much about an actress choosing to leave a television show that is basically going down the drain AND where it's most ardent fans are constantly squealing about her social life and surmising what she is doing in her private life and commenting all the time on her hair and her clothing choices and her bum shaking dances and her drinking and her smoking and how much she freaking sweats in the California sun. What makes me most sad about her leaving the show is that she slips so very easily under our radar when she is not filming ER. Oh me, oh my....what SHALL I do with this Maura obsession? ? I guess I will soon have to get a regular life after all....sigh.

So true, Viviana.
My sister's OB told her a cup of coffee a day was fine when she was pregnant. It's only a problem if all you drink is sugary, caffeinated drinks. Drink a lot of water and it really doesn't matter if you want a soda with your lunch sometimes, same as for anyone not pregnant.
And I'm pretty sure that after the first trimester, you can drink a glass of wine if you want and nursing mothers drink beer to keep up their milk. Not a ton of it, but a single beer (certain kinds) can actually be good.
Still, I really don't think she's having a baby. And even if she was that's not a reason to leave the show. Lots of tv actresses are pregnant and their characters don't have kids on their shows. The shoot around it and hide it with clothing choices etc. Will & Grace is a good example.

It's cute - I think.

I don't think that Maura is going to leave mid-season. I do, however believe that it is quite possible for her to not be in a few episodes, but her leaving all together is not probable for me at least. Since we all know that she is contracted through the end of season 14, I don't think she's going to be going anywhere....not for long anway. Well... we almost have half the spoiler in...and if this is ER's last season...this makes me sad...

I can't wait to see that epi : I'm sure we gonna see a full emotional lubby-moment . And what about I just read ( the drinking , using caffeine and cigarettes ) . No-one claims it's good for your body . Of course it's bad but you may use a little bit with moderation . Don't abuse it . If you suddenly stop using caffeine and cigarettes your body gets a shock ( your brain gonna produce some fluides because your body is missing something )and that's not good at all . You get over -stressed . What is bad for your baby is using drugs and some medication but it all depends again in what term you are . I'm intittled to tell you this with my medical background . - MURIEL-
