Maybe they'll just burn off the six episodes and that'll be the end of it.

Rating sad! The Defenders I guess is a guy show! People love Belushi I guess. I guess speaking of tradition Law & Order wins of course. It was a tough competition and a bit unfair, I guess. It is difficult for only Maura to carry on the show. The cast members are good too but they announced Maura and Rob only. It is hard for a heroine show do well on TV. Minorities are always the underdogs and Rob doesn't have this much of charisma, I think.

Yeah those ratings are bad. But I see this a good thing. 1) I don't have to watch the show. 2) Maura can go and do something better or actually take a BREAK from working for a while.

I agree with most of what everyone here has said.
Maura was great, as usual, and she looked fantastic. Not sure if the high def cameras are better these days, but her facial features were just beautiful and so defined. She was BY FAR the best thing about this show. She was able to take some really bad dialog and make it sound real, and her ability to use gestures and facial expressions brought so much more to Kathryn than the writing did to the rest of the show.
I agree with everyone that the best part of this show (and maybe only thing that can save it) are the characters and the potential for the development of their personal story. The legal story was not very intriguing. The fast paced editing drove me crazy, it was difficult to follow and chopped up the story.
Agree that Rob Morrow did his best acting in his personal scenes with Maura, otherwise he seemed to be so over-acting when he delivered his lines. The writing was making me cringe through half the show. I hope Rob can tone it down in future episodes, and the writing has to get a lot better.
Honestly, I'm not optimistic that this show will make it, it needs to get a lot better in a lot of ways soon. I too think she did this mostly for her friend, and I get the feeling Maura really doesn't care what other people think when she picks projects. Let's just hope this improves in the coming episodes, and enjoy the fact that we have her on TV every week (for now).

Sorry, but I doubt if Maura will take a break. She loves to work and she took break last year that she didn't like, but unfortunately she had to do it. If she went to a theater without hair, that's because she didn't want to stay without working. And if she wanted a break after the cances, she wouldn't have accepted TWT. So, if ABC cancels it, she'll be so soon in another project. We know Maura, we know that she's a workaholic and she loves to work.

Ok, i just finished watching it. Maura is fabulous, as you said before. But i gotta say.. sorry but I don't like Rob Morrow. He's always talking so loud, screaming around. Errr. Maura's character is just cool, i mean really, she's so cool ;D I don't know.. Pilots are always said to be not thaaat good, maybe, or better say hopefully the next episodes will be better. I don't say the pilot was bad but yeah, i don't know. Let's see. But 'Katy' is just WOW. I didn't watch the 2 other shows but The Whole Truth wasn't THAT bad. C'mon. Who made this list

Maura doesn't take breaks - she loves working. She is so talented, and regardless of that, it is her passion to act. If she wanted a break, it would have been when she was sick, and she didn't take a break then, so why would she take one now? It was only the first episode, and I never base my "liking" of a show on the pilot because think about HOW many things can and will change. I feel like this show will turn around, and whether it has to be the actors or the writers who take action, then so be it. I really liked the show last night. It kept me interested. I loved the bouncing around and the speed of things. It reminded me of certain "ER" episodes in a way when they did some fast paced stuff (including the famous Abby scene at the nurses station when she saw patient after patient). Bottom line: I believe in the show. I believe in Maura. I believe in optimism. Have a little faith people. Maura wouldn't just take a job just because someone asked her to. She obviously liked the character or felt a connection with her. Let's see what she can do with her now.

And, Im sorry, but we may be fans but we have no idea what is going on in her head right now so you can't just assume that she is going to take a job immediatley after this.

I'm not in the mood to write my opinion in a big post. All I want to say is I loved Maura, I think she had the funniest lines (I know I'm not objective). Her scenes with that young co-worker were my favorites. I hope Rob will calm down in the coming episodes.

Well, I think the good news for those of us who didn't love Rob Morrow in it is that we probably won't have to see much more of him if next week's ratings are anything like this week's LOL

Law & Order SVU is a popular show for years,. so there is a competition, if TWT was aired another night, would the competition differ? My opinion of the show was ok. It was Maura that my purpose to watch the show. I really cannot see Joely Richardson in that role as it is very "Maura" role. It was fast pace but it wasnt smooth, it was all over the place at time as they tried to make it modern-like "tech" style... Anyway Maura was the one who made the show watchable... The sight of her wearing a vest (Tanktop) with a gun... DAMN! GIRL POWER! Kathryn's Boyfriend was quite good looking... That was him at the coffee shop whom she kissed... yeah? Rob Morrow was unbearable.

Well, yikes. I didn't really know what I was expecting for the ratings, but I sure didn't think they'd be that low. Uh-oh.

Well, maybe I´m mistaken, but I think Rob was loud in scenes without Maura (and I think he made those scenes before she joined the show), so - wishiful thinking here - maybe we´ll see him more calm in their next episode.
They have a great cast. Maura is fantastic and even if Rob is not as good, there´s a very good second team (even the unknown - at least for me - who plays Chad, was good).
Lets just hope they make some changes soon: more personal interaction, for example.
I don´t think this is a good timeslot, so I hope, if they decide to do something - before killing the show - why not try another night.
Anyway, I don´t want to see this show cancelled. And I´m saying this not because of the show itself, but because this is the first show really on Maura´s shouders - I believe she can carry a show and I want to see her proving it to everybody else.
Of course, this show needs some changes, but more than anything TWT needs time to develop and be really good. Question is: ABC will give a chance to TWT??? Who knows?
Well, sure thing, if they cancel this show and she joins "dance with stars" or "survivor", even crying for days after every episode, I´ll remain Maura´s fan and will follow her work religiously.
