I agree that there's not much left for the other characters to do but I still think that after 14 years the show deserves more than this. I'm not looking for something spectacular, but seeing it end just for the sake of it is just...sad.

Larue, my pleasure! The advantage of being of that generation who remembers life before the web is it makes you far more critical of what's put forth as truth on it (thus my user ID, actually.) I've always contended that I could say that I read Goran Visnjic said that the moon was turning into a bran muffin on April Fool's Day, then post it on three message boards and by this time next week, it would be declared to be absolute truth by, uh, less discerning readers. It's the nature of the web, and a certain eagerness among some users that these things happen.
Annita, your post is case in point. and you're wise to question its reliability. That question/answer is paraphrased from the article in Variety I referred to above. But two problems: first, does Variety know that NBC is contractually obligated, or are they assuming as much because we do know ER has nine unproduced episodes in its current order coupled to the long standing but never confirmed assumption that ER would finish this year? Second, TVG has taken the tentative language in Variety and changed it to read "definitely return in April." No one has said that that I can find, and a news report on the NBC news in LA last night, complete with reporter standing in front of Warner Brothers studio, said very clearly that NBC has not made any decisions about if/when any of its shows will return. Period.
Does that mean that the 4-6 weeks in April/May won't turn out to be true? Of course not. A measure of common sense plus what we know about the production time for an episode makes it pretty easy to estimate ER could return around mid-April, and depending on when they return, get roughly 4-6 episodes broadcast before the traditional end of the season in late May. But that doesn't mean we know that's going to happen. Not yet. Not until Wells or Zabel or NBC say so.
And that's why I continue to question and challenge what is put forth as "true" or "official" that is clearly anything but. And believe it or not, I do so not to be perverse, but because I think we should know what is the truth and not be disappointed by what turns out to be inaccurate.

Now, this is what I call official. From NBC Universal Media Village (that's NBC, not some secondary source):
"ER" (Thursdays, 10-11 p.m. ET) also will come back on Thursday, April 10 with new episodes following the complete run of "Lipstick Jungle," which concludes on March 20.
Note: it gives us a return date, but not how many episodes. If they run each week to the traditional end of the season, we will get seven.

Critical Eye, as you're new here, you may not have had time to check Rory's guidelines and become acquainted with the way things work at this particular board. You'll find these guidelines in the "Welcome and Forum Annoucements" section.
*Avoid veiled attacks using disdain and contempt for views you disagree with. Instead simply state your own view and respect the right of the other person to disagree without being "wrong".

Frosty, You are also new here. Stop looking for a reason to criticize. I wouldn't say that Critical Eye has done anything other than state her views - which are the flat out facts for the most part - and defend herself from attack.

I'm so fed up with all the nitpicking, like if it was more thrilling to criticize a poster than the event itself. ER will come back on Thursday April 10. Period.Thank you, CRITICAL EYE, for the only element which should make us ALL beaming and happy.THAT's GREAT NEWS FOR ALL ER addists like us ! Let's enjoy it!!!!And about the future, there will be other announcements in the weeks to come.

Uh ... hello everybody ... isn't the Round Table thread there so we don't have instances where we have multiple comments made to a specific poster? One of the rules of the Round Table and the threads is that we should avoid jumping into a discussion or comments between two posters ... I really don't understand why everything that begins with a one to one comment on a subject roller balls into having multiple members commenting on the comments rather than the subject. I thought these types of instances were to be left between two people and didn't need to have anyone else jump into the commentary. I would assume that we all wanted to avoid further confrontation, thus the reason for the Round Table. Please correct me if my understanding is incorrect.

It's not wrong to agree or disagree with one's comments. It's the commenting without merit that becomes tedious. The constant picking and nit picking and renitpicking and double renitpicking..... But Zelda is right. The ONLY important thing is that ER is returning!!!!! Anyone latch onto 'Lipstick Jungle' yet?

Let's leave clear that there are no NEW members here, just members.
The guidelines have been approved and posted, PLEASE READ THEM CAREFULLY AGAIN!
In this case: If frosty has a problem with what Critical said, she can take it to the Round Table. Second: You can't jump to defend or support other member in issues like this. That is to avoid a chain of comments out of topic like the ones we have here.
Would you please stop commenting on this problem and go back to discuss the original subject?

Anyone latch onto 'Lipstick Jungle' yet? I've seen both episodes that have aired. Eh, not bad. I haven't really found anything stellar about the show other than the "hot" assistant one character is having an affair with. Without ER, I've got to watch something. And as long as he's on, I'll tune in.

I kinda thought the same thing but it was remarkably easy to turn it off midshow when I realized how tired I was. Sigh.

I just finished downloading the first episode and I was thinking about seeing it when I get home...I heard that it was comparable to Sex and The City (the plot) so I was interested. The discussion above made have doubts!

Shifting gears, I came across this in Variety a couple days ago. It's in an article about TNT ordering a new series by Dean Devlin, who produces "The Librarian."
Michael Wright, head of the content-creation group of TNT, TBS and TCM, cited the high ratings of the Devlin-produced telepics “Quest for the Spear” and “Return to King Solomon’s Mines,” which aired under the umbrella title “The Librarian,” as a factor in greenlighting “Leverage.” TNT also has commissioned a third “Librarian” movie from Devlin, “Curse of the Judas Chalice,” which starts shooting in New Orleans in the spring.
This certainly raises questions as to whether Wyle will be available to treat us to the return of Carter this season or not. Another result of the strike.

IMO ... that's another benefit that may have resulted from the strike. Sorry to the Carter fans, but I really wasn't looking forward to NW's appearance.

Actually, it would've been nice for Carter to see how far Abby has come. Apart from the little slip, of course. I'm wondering if MT leaves at the end of the season, when her contract expires ,or she stays until the end. I'm really worried about that.
