From Kristen - E! Online
Series Pickups for Next Season: According to sources, ER has been ordered for a 22-episode season 15 (!), and NCIS has been ordered for an extralong 28-episode season six.

No official word from NBC on this yet, although I think we all pretty much anticipated it might be coming. I'm still holding my stance as resident skeptic until the official press announcement, however. E! has been known to jump the gun.
Heaven help us if the best they can field is Sam and Gates slurping all over each other, and Neela the Goalie Surgeon. Anyone besides me suspect they might be testing a Morris/Neela pairing? Shudder...

Not sure I am liking a season 15. Anyone hear anything about who they will sign??? Will Maura be back? Won't like it if she is sans Luka. There is no one else that remotely interests me enough to keep watching for 22 more episodes. Kinda sad.

I doubt we'll know anything about cast until long after we know for certain if season 15 is a go. One bridge at a time, methinks...

As there are going to be six new episodes rather than the nine for a full season, the Carter ones would look like obvious candidates for postponement until S15 - especially as NW will be filming The Librarian through March. With MT's departure and GV's final exit (with him in three of the six remaining episodes), I guess that would also mean that there won't be that long-awaited Carter/Abby reunion after all

lol wonder how long they can postpone carter's new episodes, soon no one will remember who he is! i'll be happy to see him, esp if he takes up some of gates' time, no way he was ever that smug. Hey a new series! have to admit that suprises me. Next thing i will be waiting on tainterhooks to hear if maura stays!

It would make sense for Carter Redux to be the focus of S15, especially if both MT and GV are gone (and I really think Maura will go). I don't think that there is anyone left on the show with either the dramatic chops (especially if, as rumoured, Mekhi also leaves) or history to be that focus. I have never liked Carter and would watch only out of curiosity but I'm sure that there are plenty of people out there who would watch for him.
I suppose those yearning for a Carter/Abby Mk II will see a 15th season as a way to do it; if Luka and Abby split it would, theoretically, allow time for the thing to develop, but really, Abby+Luka then Abby+Carter then Abby+Luka then Abby+Carter again seems squicky. I know Maura once said that she didn't much like the way Abby was written as dithering between the two men and that Abby behaved at that time in ways she as a woman couldn't respect (no, I can't link to a source - perhaps someone else remembers this?) so to have her wibble back to Carter after everything she and Luka have been through seems a really retrograde step. This current drinking arc seems like a kind of meaty swansong, and for it to come down to "Well, bye-bye Luka - next!" seems implausible to me.

I have to agree w/ you there Mrs. E .... I think the drinking arc, rehab and reuniting w/ her family is indeed Abby's swan song ... can't see them doing much else with her as both she and Luka have come full circle ... the only thing left is to tidy up any loose ends, IMO. I really don't have much interest in the remaining cast and IMO, none of the characters are interesting enough to make anyone want to follow their storylines. What's even worse, however, is w/ ABC's new line-up, ER will definitely lose more of its audience. It will be competing against Lost if it goes another season. ABC is looking to make Thursdays the super lineup, much like NBC did in the 90s. They are going to show Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, Lost in the 8-10 timeslots.

Eh, I just have to say that with Luka and Abby gone (hopefully MT doesn't renew and hopefully they have a bittersweet end - maybe come back at the very end ) I'll be able to actually watch the show, without obsessing over it and looking forward to Friday mornings. I hate that it has to end , I grew up with this show and I'm glad they won't force the last episodes. But it's really time to end it.
As for the Carby stuff, I read the same thing about MT not wanting Abby to go back and forth between them. But even if reason tells me a reunion is impossible (the soap opera element, the fact that they can't erase the last 3 seasons just like that and many other reasons I can;t articulate right now) I admit that the carbies' hopes got to me a bit and I won't feel relieved until the very end of this storyline. I know it's silly and ...all but I can't help it. Just like I can;t help but be afraid that they'll split them up if Maura renews.

Can't believe a 15th season. Unfortunately there isn't anyone left that I even care about to stick around and watch. Even if MT does decide to stay she would most likely be without Goran and I am just not interested in seeing Abby without Luka. And actually I think it's just time for Maura to go. With 2 films coming out this year she certainly doesn't need ER. And l agree with some of you- this season has felt like her swan song. But what I don't want to see happen is John Wells make Maura an offer she can't refuse.

I don't think that will happen ... Wells is known for changing the focus on characters and the characters themselves. That's part of the reason for ER's success for so long. Wells himself said that they're working toward an end - not a beginning and Maura and Goran both confirmed that the writers want their Luby happy ending ... they've all invested quite a bit in that storyline ... IMO, they won't alter it now. If there even is a 15, IMO it will be to tie up the remaining cast's storylines. Luka and Abby have come full circle and the only reason IMO they went with the drinking arc is because Maura was contracted for that year and Goran wasn't there full time. They needed to do something for her, though I believe they could have left Moretti out of the mix.

ABC is looking to make Thursdays the super lineup, much like NBC did in the 90s. They are going to show Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, Lost in the 8-10 timeslots. I was afraid that this would happen when LOST moved to Thursdays. LOST is on fire right now and it's pretty much my favorite show on television. If it does move to 10 o' clock then I'm going to have to say goodbye to ER and just watch the luby clips(if there are any) online the next day. I can't believe NBC is trying to keep this show going for another season. There are going to be like five people watching by the time it's finally canceled. As many others have said, Luka and Abby are the ONLY characters that I care about on ER. There's no way in hell I'm giving up LOST so I can watch more of the crappy Gates and Sam love affair or more stories about cheese wheel racing. Just give up the ghost NBC. Damn.

Give up the ghost or get a new writing staff! i could in no way stomach seeing sam/gates become the new luby. But i could happily watch neela and her interactions, pratt if he gets something good and morris if it wasn't something written with a teenage boy with his mind in the gutter! imo they could do good things with the staff they have left if they got back to basics and shifted it back to patient-focused storylines-it's when they try and get 'easy' viewers with comedy which isn't funny or relationships no one cares about!

One of the members of AEB posted that Lisa Zwerling said they are shooting now through the summer for Season 15 with only the month of August off. Don't know where the info was found, however.
