:'(I never thought that I could think Alex could be such a sweet kid. The scene with Luka is very cute without big drama. Some happiness is so welcome. And, we, readers, are all beaming at our computer, thinking about the BIG NEWS. But, come on, Abby, you are a doctor, for God's sake!!!! Why are all pregnancies in the ER so unexpected??? Very nice update. Thank you.

Hy There!
A little light reading this time around! Hope you like it
Feelings
“Take one step at a time, Luka” Abby stated as they got out of his car to finally make it to his place.
“Oh, Christ, Abby, I’m a graduated physician I know what I’m doing. Besides after 4 weeks of physical exercises with Hitler’s lover I think I’m fine”
Abby laughed as she remembered Helga, the macho looking nurse that got Luka up with one hand, if necessary. “Now, see that was a nazi nurse, not me in that little costume from Halloween”
They walked slowly trough the parking lot of his building.
Luka laughed. “But you were the sexy nazi nurse, the one that triggered everyone to the death showers”
Abby playfully hit him. “That was horrible”
Luka laughed but froze at the sight of a professional driver that stood before a jaguar. He knew that car, he was sure; and the sight of it did not make him that happy at all. He never flew, never! She did, but he never did, never, unless something very bad had happened. Luka suddenly stopped smiling at all and rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
“What?” Abby questioned getting in the old elevator.
“What?” Luka stared at her.
“You scratched the back of your neck” Abby smiled a him.
“So?” Luka had to laugh.
“So, that means you’re nervous about something”
“That is ridiculous” Luka managed and scratched the back o his neck again. God she knew him well.
“There you go again!” Abby said.
“Oh, for Christ sakes. Abby. I have an itch”
“No, you don’t. You’re nervous!”
The elevator door opened “Luka! Hi” His brother stood before him and Luka finally smiled wide with relief, almost laughing.
“Petar, you scared the hell out of me. I though it was tata.”
Petar smiled. “No, no. I just came to check if you’re ok. Abby here told me what happened”
Abby looked away, whistling as she knew, Luka was looking mock angry at her.
“I was at the hospital first but the nice looking doctor told me you’d come home”
“Nice looking doctor?” Luka questioned, staring with puzzled eyes.
“Yes, Blond, nice voice, adorable smile”
Abby laughed “Dr Lewis”
“Yes, that’s the one”
“Petar?”
“Yes, Luka?”
“You’re married”
“Oh, I know, doesn’t mean I can’t think she’s nice”
“OK, Luka. I have a shift and Petar here is here to take care of you”
“I don’t need a baby-sitter, Abby.”
“Oh, and I thought all those bibs would come in handy” Petar mocked. Come on, Luky, let’s talk man… … … to … … … well, you”
“So” Petar threw himself on the couch looking straight at his brother.
“So” Luka shot back with a wide smile.
“I haven’t seen you smile like that in a long time”
Luka shyly laughed. “I haven’t smiled like this in years.”
“Still you managed a heart attack”
“Yes, well she wore me out the night before”
“Oh, well than it was on account of a noble reason.” Petar smiled back. “And what happens now?” Petar asks.
“One step at a time. Doctor’s orders” Luka grinned, but don’t be surprised if you see a wedding ring on Abby’s finger after Christmas.”
Petar pretended seriousness and took out a notepad from his pocket and a pen.
“Ok, so, what day is today?”
Luka had to laugh, “Today is September 2nd”
Petar began to write, “September 2nd, 2005 Luka says I will see a ring on Abby’s finger on … …” He looked up at Luka
“Ok, if it’s that way, than January 1st 2006”
“On January first 2005.”
Luka grinned, “Want to ask when I’m proposing? I can give you the exact time and than you can ask Abby”
“Oh, intriguing. Though what happens if I don’t see one?”
“I’ll give you my aquarium over there”
“Stefan will love it”
“And if you do?”
“I’ll pay for the wedding myself. Whatever you and Abby wish. Including Honeymoon”
“Well, than you can start buying tickets for the World cup in 2006”
“Oh, Luka. Please! You’re taking your future wife to the world cup?”
“No, well sort of, I’ll take to Germany, because come on, what better place to go to in the summer? And we can watch some games like Brasil against Croatia”
“So A trip for you and her to enjoy”
“Exactly”
Petar laughed shaking his head. “Be serious now, Luka. Do you really think it’ll end up in marriage?”
“If I wasn’t sure, do you honestly think I would have done what I did?” Luka looked at his brother who took a sip of his beer. “never”
Luka smiled suddenly looking at his shoes and than back at his brother “I love, Abby. I lover her, Petar in a way I never thought was possible. In a way I never loved Danijella and you know I loved Danijella, but what I feel for Abby… … It’s I don’t know how to explain it’s like… … … it’s more powerful, more certain and it’s true. I mean I don’t have to force anything, push anything, change nothing at all, I want her the way she is.”
Petar smiled suddenly “You pass that to people. I mean, I can see it in your eyes when you’re with her and strangely enough, although I don’t know her this well, I see the same thing in her eyes.”
Luka couldn’t stop smiling anymore. He felt light suddenly, like every piece of his puzzle was beginning to connect again and the pain and sorrow that had lingered on for some many years was slowly disappearing with the tiredness that consumed him right after he woke up from the heart attack.
He was slowly becoming himself again, and not the Luka of earlier this year or last year, but the Luka that had been buried along with his family, only this Luka was far more improved than he first.

Great update. I love it when we get to meet Luka's family. I wish TPTB would let us meet them on the show! I agree with Sammie. Luka's interaction with his brother is so funny, they have a great sense of humour together. And OMG, the best honeymoon destination: the World Cup. Luka is a true European: addicted to football! Love it!

Hy guys! Here it goes: The answer to the obvious
Baby Steps
“So, how did this happen?” Abby asked the little 6-year-old boy holding his left arm with the right one. She had given him a candy bar she had had in her pocket and this had stopped him from crying, but still he hiccupped with pain filled tears. His father and mother both stood hovering over Abby and the boy.
“He doesn’t speak English. We’re from Brasil. He did me the huge favor of falling on the trampoline and I have no idea where he hit his elbow.” The father explained in a calm voice.
Abby smiled apologetically “You look like you were on your way out” She points out seeing them all well dressed and the other kids with backpacks on their back. Abby held up his elbow as carefully as she could. It was hard to check on places like these and she sighed with nervousness. Looking up at the father with a smile, Abby couldn’t help but o think of Luka. This guy looked very European, and although he was more of a Colin Firth look-a-Like, he reminded her of Luka. It wasn’t the looks but more of the way he handled his three sons, gentle, soothing, even though you could see he was a pile of nerves.
“We were on our way to he airport to fly home”
Abby finished examining him and turned back to the father “We’re going to have to take an X-ray to see how bad it is, but I’m pretty sure he’s going to need surgery”
She informed the man, who rubbed the back of his head nervously as he translated it to his wife.
“Should I take him to a special doctor?”
“Oh, no, it’s fine, we have a doctor who is specialized in just about every kind of surgery. He’ll be down in a few minutes.”
“Thank you” The father smiled at Abby.
“I’ll be back with your son’s X-ray results Dr Dubenko.” Abby walked away asking Malik to take the little boy to X-Ray.
Reaching he phone Abby watched the family from the distance. Wife, husband, and their three gorgeous boys. She smiled thinking this could some day be her and Luka. Well, she’d make sure there’d be no trampoline accidents but still this could be her future.
She smiled.
“So?!” Susan asked reaching the lounge and turning to the coffee maker to pour herself a cup of coffee and urn to Abby sitting at the table, reading something
“So, what?” Abby questioned not even daring to move her eyes from her reading material.
“Did you make a decision?”
“Yup. Never buy trampolines” Abby reported with a smile.
“Wha?! Abby, what are you going to do about … … … what you have?”
“Oh, That”
“Yes, that”
Abby closed her book and smiled up at Susan. “You know, I thought about it. I thought about it while I was dropping off Luka in his place with his brother, and I thought about it considering my mother and Erick and I thought about it while I worked up the trauma with those irresponsible teenagers who crashed the car after a stupid party. And I thought about it, while I remembered myself as a teenager and Erick and I thought I better not have it, not go through with it”
Susan took the seat in front of Abby “Abby, listen, I know this is hard, and I know the past and your story with your family doesn’t help you to have a good reason to have his, but Abby that passed is the past and those trauma kids are who they are. This is not necessarily your future, Abby you… … …. …. …”
“Susan, I’m not finished”
Susan looked up shocked, “Oh, sorry. Go on”
“Than this 6 year old little boy came around with a broken elbow. There were father, mother, and two brothers and I don’t know what it was about him, about his father, about the family, but I could see hat in my life, I could easily see my future right there and I decided … … … what you will know tomorrow”
Susan shook her head “Oh, you’re not serious!”
Abby laughed. “I have to see Dr Courburn”
“Oh, God. Abby are you sure”
Abby had to laugh.
“Gone for grocery’s” read the note on the kitchen table and Abby smiled knowing this would end up being perfect. After going to Courburn she was sure this was how she wanted o tell him, in the sweetest possible way. She only prayed Luka’s reaction wouldn’t be too crazy, too wild, but what the hell life ain’t worth it without taking risks, right?
Luka opened the door smiling as he heard the lyrics to “Miracle” by Celine Dion.
“Abby?!” He called out but had no answer
“Abby?!” He tried again
“Follow the baby steps” he heard her voice echoing from his bedroom.
“What?!” He looked down on the floor and saw knit baby shoes of many colors trailing the way into his bedroom.
What the hell was that supposed to be? Why would Abby buy baby shoes to make him… … … God, was it possible? Was she really trying to hint? Was she? Jesus, could it really be? He sighed trying to contain his emotions. Maybe it wasn’t at all what he thought. He followed the shoes taking the last one from the floor. They were blue and so cute.
He stood facing Abby. She held up a piece o paper in her hands. He couldn’t believe this! He simply could not believe it. He felt a tear running down his eye and smiled through it.
“Is this? Are you?” His voice was weak and filled with emotions.
“Abby… … …”
“Read it” She handed him the paper, Luka still holding on to the knit baby shoes.
“You’re pregnant?!! You’re pregnant!!”
The smile opened so wide he couldn’t believe his mouth could even go that wide.
Abby was smiling as wide at him. She had tears in her eyes and he had to laugh as he hugged her tight.
“Abby, this is … … … a miracle”
He laughed as did Abby pulling him closer for a kiss.
Yup, it was a miracle, though she would never tell him the miracle got very close to never happening. He didn’t have to know this.
“I should get those shoes”
Luka sat on the bed pulling her closer by the waist.
“No, leave them… … it’s leading the way to where its win will be made.”
“Oh, I’m not having twins” Abby laughed looking down at him. A hand caressed his face. She had made the right decision, it was clear in his face, in his eyes.
She kissed him deeply, passionately. He pulled her closer to kneel on his lap.
Yup they could yup having twins. Abby thought, but what the hell, two is no different than one.
