Today's update! Good reading!
Cook County Hospital:
Luka entered in the hospital, carrying Maddie, still sleepy on her baby seat. He saw Abby at the admit desk.
“Hey…” He said.
Abby smiled and moved to him to kiss him.
“Why are you late?”
He frowned. He checked his watch.
“Don’t check, Luka. You’re late of two hours.” She said smiling.
He nodded.
“Sorry.”
“Never mind. I’m off in 5 minutes. Just the time to sign this and we can leave.” Abby signed the file and looked at him, worried.
“Luka…”
Luka didn’t react.
“Luka.”
He shook his head.
“Yeah?”
“What’s wrong?”
He sighed. ”Nothing. Can we go?”
Abby nodded. Something was wrong and he lied to her.
Luka’s place:
Abby went up the stairs and entered in the bedroom to put away Luka’s clothes in the drawer. She opened it and put the clothes in the drawer. Suddenly, she felt something inside. She took it. It was a envelope. She looked at the name on. It was hers. She frowned, trying to guess why Luka had a letter to her. It was his writing…
“Abby? What do you want to eat?”
Abby turned the envelope and saw her father’s name.
“Abby?” She heard Luka’s steps in the stairs. She didn’t move. Luka was in the doorway. Abby felt him, frozen when he saw Abby with the letter.
“What is this?” Abby asked.
Luka lowered his head for awhile and plunged his gaze into hers, but he didn’t answer.
“What is this?” Abby repeated slowly.
“A letter from Jim.”
“Why do you have a letter from Jim? And why do you call him Jim?” Abby repeated. Anger increased inside her.
“It was the day where you went to the hospital with Maddie…. And I thought it wasn’t the good moment to give it to you...”
“You thought?” Abby shook her head. “You lied to me… you’re lying to me.”
“I’m not.”
“Oh, really? Where’d you go this day? Where were you?” Abby yelled.
“Why are you yelling? Because I hid this letter? Because I don’t say to you where I was?”
“Don’t answer to my question with another question!” Abby turned her gaze away. “I trust you… and you lie to me… “
“You would never open it, if I would give it to you.” Luka’s voice was calmer than Abby’s.
“And? After? I don’t want to know. It’s my right.”
“You should… I think you wouldn’t any problems anymore.”
Abby glared at him. She went out of the bedroom. Luka looked up at the ceiling and then he followed her.
“Where are you going?”
“It’s not your business.”
“Abby!?”
“I need to take some fresh air… somewhere where nobody lies to me.”
She took her jacket and went out, slamming the front door. Luka felt anger boring inside him. He leant against the wall, his hands against, his head lowered. Now anger was in his head. He stood up and hit the wall with his fist with all his strength.
Abby was driving. She let the tears flowed on her cheeks. How he could lie to her? How? She cried more and more. She wiped the tears with her right hand. She had a bitter taste in her throat, and her heart bounced. She grabbed her cell phone and dialled the phone. She waited for someone answer.
“Yeah?”
“Why? Why does he come back? Does he want to hurt us again? Maybe it wasn’t enough?
“Where are you, Abby?”
“He left us, he abandoned us… and now he regrets? He’s a jerk! He believes we can forget just like this? He believes I can forgive him? He’s mistaken. Because never I’ll forget, never I’ll forgive.”
“Abby, you’re scaring me. Where are you?”
“Do you really think he loved us? Because it seemed to be the case… he was nice, and he took care of us… and one day… he slammed the door.”
“Abby! Please tell me where you are.”
“While thirty years… do you think he thought about us? Do you think he thought about what he did?”
“Yes, I do. Please, Abs.”
“It’s hurting me… it’s killing me… I want to know if he loved me. I want to know why he leaves me alone… I trusted in him… like I trust in Luka… and he hurt me so much…” Abby paused, trying to concentrate on the road. “I wanna know.”
“We’ll know… please… come at home… come at home, Abs.”
Abby stopped the car along the side. She wiped her tears again.
“I’m on Eisenhower Expy West… near to Hillside.”
“I’m coming, sis. I’m coming.” Abby put down and let the cell phone falling on the next seat. She held the steer wheel. She put her head against and broke down again.
