The trees held a haunting beauty as their red, gold, and chocolate colored leaves swayed in the soft breeze. She looked out of the train window as different landscapes passed by as if they were paintings being shown off one by one. Mountains, prairies, streams, towns, each landscape seemed to hold its own story, its own secret. She felt torn, bruised, but life had taught her not to give up, and so she wouldn’t. She took a deep breathe and felt a sort anguished relief, like finally pulling her head above water and taking in that precious breath of air, but she was also sad to leave the beauty that she had encountered underwater.
She had always braced herself right before she hit the bottom rocks in every relationship in her life. But this time, this time she had only tried to brace herself. And she had failed. Now her she was bruised and alone. She was confused, she didn’t understand him. He was so undecided and he pull her along for every ride. She had only wanted to care a bit, but now she cared way too much. She closed her eyes and opened them with a new decision, he had made his choice and it was clear that it wasn‘t her. There was a new road ahead and forward was the only way she could go now. There was no turning back.
Seven Years Later…
She opened her eyes and smiled as she stretched her hands high above her head. She looked over and found that she was not alone. She stared at the little figure that lay sprawled all with tangled brown hair and an white oversized t-shirt that seemed to fit her more like a dress. Abby sighed and let her mind wander it amazed her that exactly seven years ago she was on her way to a new life, a better life she had promised herself. And now it involved her two children, they weren’t planned, not at all, but now she would give her life for them any day. Her husband was a wonderful man and a great father. Her life was good. Happy even, but even though she denied it to herself, there was something missing. The feeling was always in her gut, and it tormented her. It even made her feel guilty sometimes, like she was a hypocrite.
It was insane, but she felt like her life was a night sky with thousands of stars but no moon. Nothing to give off all that light that helped guide her way, her way was only lit by small flickers of light. Her thoughts continued to wander as they made a sudden stop at a memory that while it brought back pain, it also brought back a warmth that spread through her body. She remembered him. His features at timed got a bit hazy, but she could remember his ebony colored hair and smoky mystic green eyes. She shook her head and looked over at the table to her left and lifted the small gold band. She twirled it in her fingers and then it slipped it on. Instantly it made her feel better and she buried all thoughts of him. That was another life. She got up and walked over to her window she open it and felt the warm breeze slip in she smiled as her chocolate eyes ,that now seemed more like a honey color as the sun hit them, scanned the view in front of her. Luka had grown up near the beach, she remembered him telling her that. She could hardly remember what his voice sounded like and it scared her that she had to work so hard to recall it. Had he forgotten her as well?
The sand and water seemed to fight an endless fight and the waves hit the shore and then quickly receded. Foam formed on the sand that was a mixture of light tan and speckled with tiny rocks that sparkled like jewels. The sky was cloudless letting the sun beam out intensely warming the breeze that caressed her like a caring lover. This was one thing that always amazed her no matter how many times she had seen it before it always impacted her. Only one other thing in her life stunned so many times over again. And that was the one thing that she couldn’t have.
P.S. I don’t know if this is a good idea for a fic. But I had a huge writers block on my other story and I’m not sure if I’m going to continue it.
Also I really don’t know when I’m going to update again. But if anyone wants to write the next update I’d be really happy to make this a two people fic or whatever they‘re called!
