Sam... what can I say? I just can´t believe it. If there´s one person in that hospital that cannot judge is her. In fact, I never liked Sam, and her time with Luka (throwing things all the time - so childish) made things worst.
She´s in no place to talk about work-related things to anyone in ER. Even if Abby worked drunked (don´t know if it really happened, or it was mostly hung-over) - Abby NEVER killed a patient. Anyway, certainly not the way Sam killed that raped woman. She basically acted behind Luka´s back, defiantly doing whatever "she" wanted, no matter what he said (and the poor woman was his patient).
One word for you, Sam: LOUISE.
Pay your jail time first!

Someone on another board was severely reprimanded because she had given her opinion about an epi she hadn't watched yet. I am doing the same here ( except for Youtube scenes) and you are much nicer with me here... I did the same thing in my previous post Didn't wait to see the whole episode I was just commenting the clips Mumu made And like you Zelda, it may have been ER exit last night for me

I dont think its Abbys last day in the ER, or else she wouldnt be there begging to get her job back, but maybe they decide to stay in croatia or something, i really dont wanna see episodes without abby, if she disappears im not gonna watch anymore.

Last night's episode really got to me. Sad. Frustrating. Hatred. Abby did have a good storyline and the scenes with the little girl were amazing. I also liked that she fessed up to what she did and made amends with Neela.
However, Sam annoyed me a lot.
Yes, Sam does not have the best track record either. Pregnant at 15, young mother, hopping from job to job, and murdered...yes murdered, the father of her child and she never once told anyone in the ER that she killed someone, now did she? Yes there were reasons, but everyone says that it is no reason to kill someone! The look on her face made the rage in my mind come to a boil. How do you think Abby feels?
And- the end scene was saddening to me. They REALLY made it seem like Abby was gone, like Mark and Kerry as some people have mentioned. It was sad for me to see that because I still believe that Maura Tierney is holding the show together at this point. Yes, I do want to see the other characters to get wrapped up and no I don't want to be left an open ending. I want it to be ended for me so I don't have to constantly think about it. Hopefully this won't be the last of her...or Goran for that matter.
Let's just hope that the strike ends soon and ER can continue without hesitation!

i think i fell even more in love with Abby this episode, she was brilliant. Her vulnerability and the courage it took to stand up to her co-workers, her return to brilliant doctoring. ER needs abby/maura's acting- seeing her return makes it more clear to me that it is nothing without her. I'm worried we won't see more of her for a while- 2 weeks in croatia then 60 days rehab. And as much as her struggle in this episode made for good viewing i am again worried that she won't move on for this, especially if Sam's narrow mindedness (hello, sent her son to a reform home!) means we won't get a return to a happy ER family! LOVED the neela scene, i am so so glad we saw them resolve that. Have to say neela was a lot more forgiving then i would be in that situation.
Gates didnt annoy me as much this episode. But if him and Sam get together next ep after seeing him being all serious with the chaplain and meeting her family then grr dont get me started! Now i dislike sam and her scowling eyes it will be a match made in hell!
I thought the whole episode was good- liked the patient storylines, liked the comedy with morris' bottom and even harold was pretty funny this episode with the shower hat and the look he gave morris after doing the interosseos.
Thanks again Amanda, i really appreciate being able to see it!
guys, i am so so worried abby won't come back- do u think they r offering her a door out in case the writers strike goes on for a while? but this is not the place for such a discussion.
ETA i wrote this post before i read everyone elses and I can see you're thinking the same thing! and you are totlly right- if this does end up being her last scene cos of the strike etc then i feel satisfied that she hsa recovered, made up with neela and is joiing luka and joe. all is well in the world. just dont think i'll be watching any more ER!

Not Sam's greatest fan [/understatement] but there is a difference between what happened around Steve and what she's wondering about Abby. Sam can't have anticipated what happened and did not, in that instance, do anything herself to endanger patients. Working on patients whilst under the influence (like Carter when high) is different - and she spent this episode dealing with the fallout from drunkenness. I can see where "the look" came from but am so used to seeing her deploy it (generally against Luka) for no discernible reason that it's hard to say "well, yes, she has a point". Her question was a valid one, but shouldn't have been asked in public. I think there was also and element of "And to think I was offering a shoulder to dry on when I thought she and Luka were on the outs" in it.

I thi,k it was quite a good epi, Abby was very emotional (as usual) and I also love all the Neela's scene, espcially with Morris and Harold at the end, they just crack me up Back to Abby: as everybody I just ask who the hell Sam does she think she is to judge Abby like that and give her that look ?? First she said "if you need to talk", and then...I just want to slap her pretty face The worst is that Abby seems worried about san's reaction and I feel sad for her. I love love love her interactions with Greg and Neela, true friendship. I'm glad we see Abby and Neela friends again, after the 13 season where they have to deal with their own storyline. They're here for eachother in the difficulties and that's the most important. I have just one fear now, that's with this crappy strike we may never see the luby reunion Please TPTB, I want to see the three of them in Chicago or in Croatia, but just happyli ever after I was kinda hoping for the end of this epi, a reunion like Doug and Carol in Such sweet sorrow... at least it's a good thing she goes to Croatia... "I miss them like crazy", we miss them too Abby !!

Had a chance to rewatch this and I kinda changed my mind...Sam was pretty mean and out of place but I don't damn her as much as you do. In a way, I understand her. She's not flawless, far from that, but doesn't like certain features people have. Some mentioned Louise as an example of what she's done. I was angry then too but she wanted to help. Just like in Abby's case with this whole arc, what she did can be explained but not excused. And yes, she killed a man and that's worse than pretty much everything else.
So, as much as I liked Abby it was hard for me to sympathize with her entirely, mostly because she seemed touched by Carter's Holier than Tho' Smugness. And after watching that last scene I cried. I actually cried (and that didn't happen on this show - or any other, for that matter- since The Tumor came back to take Greene, when , although I didn't quite care about him it was pretty sad) when it hit me: I MISS LUKA!!! I miss Luka so much that I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to watch past episodes he was in without crying again. That was one great, unique character that kept his modesty and values until the very end....
Damn you, TPTB and the stupid strike!

I didn't catch a whiff of the 'Carter Holier than Thou smugness' with Abby at all. I had been looking for the word and finally saw it here somewhere. She was very, very vulnerable. She was unsure of her place in the trauma rooms at first...uncomfortable with all the inquiries about Croatia....remorseful with Neela...and that all came across very, very well. I hate that Maura will most likely be bypassed for an Emmy again. (She should have been nominated soley for last year's 'Bloodline'.) She has done an awesome job with this story arc. I am going to miss seeing her on a weekly basis......sigh.
Does anyone know whose voice it was singing 'Beautiful' at the end of this epi? My daughter swears up and down that it was the little girl's voice with music behind it. Can't tell myself.

FIREWORKS! I finally managed to watch the epi. I won't ramble and repeat the same things as those posted, but I'd like to point out 2 things: 1 ) The scene with the little girl is ONE OF THE BEST Abby had with a patient. What a difference with ARROGANT ABBY in BODY AND SOUL, with her ex-teacher, when she was of course the best of the bestest, taking charge of everything and being incredibly RUDE with FRAN, the woman who used to take care of NATH, the teacher, with a great dedication. I have chosen this passage because in 300 PATIENTS, we saw the people who had had a particular impact on the doctors' minds , and NATH was a very bad choice for me. 2 ) SAM:I only have an explanation for SAM' s sudden animosity with ABBY. She is mad at her because she is JEALOUS. ( and please, don't say that I am blind and ecstatic as soon as Luka is in the background. ) Sam broke up with Luka because she " wanted another life." BRIEF SUMMARY OF SAM' S THRILLING LIFE:Her love life is non existent, and about her sex life... it gives me headaches just trying to remember how many guys she slept with. She could have sex with all the staff members of COUNTY for all I care, but it doesn't express great happiness or stability. Her kid has huge personal issues, she had to put him in a boarding school... and blablabla. She broke up with Luka because she didn't want any baby ( and she certainly has no regrets about that) , but she MAY MISS the guy, his generosity, his commitment. That's why she is so bitchy with ABBY! She can't understand how she could screw up and take the risk to lose everything she had... Even though stupid TPTB probably want SAM and GATES to be the new hot couple , her current life is pretty empty... THIS WERE MY 2 CENTS, GUYS, SORRY, MY 2 DOLLARS! And ANDREJIA, I 'm so OVERJOYED.. Our best friend HAROLD lost his virginity. BRILLIANT... And finally, I can only repeat that it's GOODBYE ER for me... And I could cry!
