As I say, I haven't seen much else of NW's work; has he played romance convincingly in anything else?
You know what? I don't think he has, come to think of it. Interesting.....

Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd reportedly hated each other, as did Debra Winger and Richard Gere, but that didn't effect the on-screen chemistry they had in Moonlighting and Officer and a Gentleman, respectively.

There you go, works (or doesn't!) in reverse too!
Perhaps NW just never happened on the right role.

While I thought he was great playing the naive, bumbling Carter in the early seasons, IMO, Noah Wyle may just have limited range as an actor.

Well that's my suspicion too but I'm not in a position to say so really. And this is the NW Lovers Club we're in!

I think John Carter of the early seasons of ER was nicely played by NW, I don't really know what happen between S8 and S11 because I'm a lawyer not an expert of show-business or so, but I think leaving ER was the best decision for him, his character was going down the hill IMO.
I wish Noah finds "the character" to deeply explore his acting skills or explore some other ways of making a living.

Noah seems to have more chemistry with male actors than he does with women (particuarly when they are love interests).
I loved watching Noah and Eriq La Salle as Carter and Benton playing scenes together. For me, the show has never quite been the same since ELS left because of that relationship.
Goran and Noah always play well off one another, too - whether it was the dreadful way Carter treated Luka right from the beginning, especially during the build up to Carby, and on to the AFrica experiences, that went from dancing around one another to genuine and close friendship.
One of my favorite Carter scenes is his little take-off of Luka, as he's heading for Kisangani and he's asking the other aid worker if he knows Luka. And when the aid worker (can't for the life of me remember his name now) says "All the ladies love Luka", the look on Noah's face is priceless!

Noah has played virtually the same character in all of his work - even as Steve Jobs in "Pirates of Silicon Valley" he was arrogant, hot-tempered, and self-righteous. Not exactly a range there. "The Librarian" was like a softened version of s1 - s4 Carter, too. I wouldn't say he's a bad actor, but he seems quite limited. Then again, I think Julia Roberts plays the same character in most of her movies, and she's America's flipping Sweetheart.

His name was Charles. The unbearable snottiness and insubordination toward Luka, distasteful as it was, was some of NW's best work I think.

Ah, Charles - thank you! Another scene when Noah did a particuraly good job: S9 when Abby & Carter are together; Eric has turned up and Abby knows that he's got BPD. She and Carter are sitting in Doc Magoo's and Carter tells her that she "doesn't need to go through this" on her own. He means, of course, that he's there for her. Abby blurts out something about Maggie to the effect that she wouldn't be able to help. Camera cuts to Carter's face. With just a look, Noah conveys how commpletely crestfallen, confused and upset he is that she didn't make the intended connection. And he doesn't correct her (I'm glad the script didn't include that, more powerful that way). I hated Carby, but I thought at the time tptb were going for it - but in hindsight it was this scene that really spelt out D-O-O-M-E-D.

ER: Spoilers Is Season 14 the last season? Find out here 'ER': Emergency Reunion With a possible series finale looming next spring, "ER" producers appear to be working on the equivalent of Old Timers Day for the long-running drama by luring back as many of the show's alumni as possible this season. Among those who have been approached are Noah Wyle, Gloria Ruben and Julianna Margulies. Wyle(left), who left the show at the end of the 2005-2006 season following a string of episodes set in a war-torn African nation, will appear on "ER" this season in a storyline set in the hospital, according to TV Guide "He'll be in Chicago in the ER, interacting with all our people," executive producer David Zabel says. Carter will be back to check out the Joshua Carter Center, a gift from his billionaire family, and for a mysterious medical concern. Producers are hoping to also bring back Thandie Newton, who plays Carter's wife Kem. The two had split up shortly before Carter's exit, after their baby died. Margulies -- who grew up locally in suburban, Spring Valley, NY -- made a name for herself playing nurse Carol Hathaway on "ER" but left the show in 2000. Other potential guest stars include Eriq La Salle (Peter Benton), William H. Macy (David Morgenstern), Sally Field, Danny Glover, Laura Innes (Weaver) and Shane West (Ray). Producers hoping to land the show's most famous alumni: "We're always thinking of ways to bring Dr. Ross back on the show," says Zabel. "And now might be a good time, because I hear George [Clooney] needs the work." -- Post staff writer Source: blogs.nypost.com/tv/archives/2007/08/er_reunion.htmlAwh Zabel...pleasseeeeeeeeeeeeeee put Sherry on this list!!
