OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!
I'm shocked... I'm sorry if most of you might not agree with me but I can't conceive the show without ABBY.
I've read the article and even my Portuguese is really BASIC, I've tried to understand while Lovewins was translating (THANKS FOR THAT HONEY), definitely we'll have LUBY + Joe leaving to Croatia, if we are REALLY LUCKY we might get a Croatian episode to finally see them together in the final episodes of ER.
By now I've already started using those Kleenex I've talked about in my last episode. The thought of not being able to see Maura's performance on that show makes me be in tears
Even if it's for a good and happy ending I don't think I'll be so thrilled about the show without her, I was way depressed for not seeing GV but now that seems MT would be away... I just can't explain with words what I'm feeling right now...

I'd like to gently remind everyone that Maura is contracted THROUGH s14. And that if she were leaving, we'd have had the same extensive warning we had for Goran, and before him, Noah.
Stage direction indicates that she ends the night (and episode) alone in the apartment - thus sans Luka, who I'm betting takes Joe to Croatia to give her some space to heal. It's very likely that she tells him she needs to do this alone, because that's fairly standard practice for addiction - making sure that they can solve the problem without someone "saving" them. It very common for an addict/alcoholic to move out temporarially to allow them some introspective time. And no, it doesn't mean we won't see Luka back with Joe. I'll bet a good chunk of money we see them return for a happy ending near the finale.
While it's possible for an actor to break their contract, it seems unlikely given the praise for Maura's work ethic that we've heard from her costars and from herself. Please stop freaking out.

Maybe Abby does go with him for the funeral and stuff then comes back while Luka stays in Croatia. Luka can come back closer to the end of the season and that would work with everyone's contracts.
Plus if Abby leaves, aren't the ratings going to be even worse? Would they really let her do that?

before I catch up with all you guys talked I just want to say that THIS , (quoting)
<<There are two brief snippits of Abby and Luka. Luka tells Abby she can't hide from him forever. Later we have Luka and Abby crying as they discuss her drinking. He says he shouldn't have left her alone, she says she was weak and should have been stronger. He says he's sorry and gets down on the floor, head in her lap. Abby tells him to stop it, he's making her feel worse.>>
is exactly what i've been hoping....
so I guess it really is the resolution...i'm ok with that!

I would have to agree with Maggie....think things through gently. Maura has the same sort of work ethic and loyalty to the show that Clooney has displayed. I think it would take quite a bit to pry her away from a standing contract. And TPTB are not stupid. I am not the only one that has said they would stop watching when Maura leaves. Why would they risk already sagging ratings??? There is just not another character on the show that I would set my timer to watch every week. Sorry..... I also kind of forgot about the winter hiatus. Think they would send her off on a plane and make all of us worry and wonder?? I could just see the voice over guy in the promos next spring.... "We thought she was gone for good....but an old favorite returns to finish the job she started...."

I think networks have been saing anythiong yet because it includes spoilers and the episode is a little far ahead now. Though everything that has news on Globo about ER has indeed happened.

Maura did start warning people.
She said she would probably not be resigning a contract when this one expired...which it does at the end of the 14th season. I sincerely doubt that Maura would leave midseason without the producers playing that card....and still having to pay out her supposedly lucrative salary. If the show was to end midseason then it would be a given. Since they are celebrating their 300th episode and advertising the return of some past cast, I doubt that that is the plan. I still plan to predict that she will be around till the end....and the 'end' being the last episode of this 14th season.

The storyline is agreeing with TV Globo, Globo has NEVER failed in reporting that type of news and MT as it was mentioned here by someone else started mid season 6 - so her contract might as well be up for mid season 14. Though both as reported in TV globo they (GV and MT) will return for few last episodes. The reason why they may not be making a big deal is because the two will return and because it would mean a lot of people would in advance know to stop watching the show. Brasil is not linked with ratings because it's cable tv. they show what they want to show, therefor there's nothing harmful about giving out the news.

I cannot believe what i am about to say but if/when Maura does leave ER, i don't think i would keep watching ER, even though I've been watching it since that start. As other people have mentioned there are no other characters in the show that would keep we watching every week. It only Maura and Goran i look forward to and IMO they are the strongest/lead characters on this show and are what keeps the ratings going. It difficult because on one hand i would like her to stay and on the other i so want that happy Lubby ending, even if that means moving to Croatia. The problem that the show is facing is, there are not as many characters on this show as there used to be. Past season when an actor has left the show there has always been another characters to fall back on. I used to love Carol and when she left i latched onto Abby and when Doug left there was Noah and Goran. I Cannot say i feel about the same for Pratt, Morris and Gates, for my they are supporting characters, no way near lead role material. Personally if Maura isn't renewing her contract after season 14 and would end the show, it would be sad but the right thing to do.
I agree with the majority that Luka will takes Joe to Croatia while Abby sorts herself out, finishes her residency, then Goran will come back for his final (4th) appearance as Luka taking Abby with him.

Just to clarify - this (14.10) *is* his fourth appearance. He appears in 14.5, 14.8, 14.9 and 14.10. However that does not mean it's his final appearance, necessarily.

Nor Mura's, They will come back closer to the end though. If GV was sirious in Argentina - they'll be making two more episodes (he said 6 episodes)

I would be so disappointed if Maura left and i would stop watching. and as someone asked, its not the christmas episode, the christmas episode is episode 11.
