With Maura off the cast I have lost interest in the show. I might turn in to see who replaces her and how they do. I would LOVE to have the pilot released...or added to the 1 season dvd - if such a thing comes to pass. Can you image the dilemma of the actors having to reshoot the pilot with someone else doing it?? Might change the timbre of each and every scene. So sad.

If I admitted just how sad this whole situation really makes me, or just how much I was looking forward to Maura on this show, someone would probably come after me with a straight jacket and butterfly net LOL.
I wouldn't really wish anyone out of a job, particularly this talented group, but for my own personal, selfish happiness, I wish the show would just go away - so that every time I hear about it or see a promo for it, I don't have to torture myself thinking "what if" Maura had been able to stay in. I blame Maura for this. If she wasn't so special, I wouldn't care so much.

Do you think we'll ever get to see the pilot with Maura? I am so curious. I wonder. I HOPE so.

Since hundreds of pilots are made every year that we never get ot see, I highly doubt that this one will ever air anywhere. Sigh.

I don't know, but unless it's leaked online somewhere, I don't think NBC would ever release it. I doubt they'd want the audience to see just how great Maura was while trying to promote someone else in the role.

I wonder if all those critics who wrote about the pilot got a tape. Do they have to give it back to NBC? Would any of them make a copy to themselves? I think I would.... I was reading an article about 25 show-bombs (or sth like that) and there are alot of NBC shows in it. Some sounded good, others not. Anyway, in some cases they made only - like 10 or 6 episodes - and they went to DVD. Now, if - big IF here - Parenthood turns out to be a bomb, and they cancel it after - lets say, one season - why not give us a DVD with Maura´s pilot too.... I had no idea Helen is known as dificult. Poor guys, from Maura to a bossy co-worker. Anyway, Helen is no good replacement to Maura - in this case. I just don´t think she can sell the emotion. Watching Helen´s character suffer - I say to myself "that´s sad" Watching Maura´s character suffer makes "me" sad, and I want to hold her and tell her everything is gonna be ok. No wonder Gavin (RM) - who never hugs - was there holding and conforting her. She makes us feel her pain.

Knowing what we do know about Maura and her desire for privacy makes me wonder how much like she is like Kelly's explaination about 'not needing to hear someone elses' story....or to have them understand.....' She definitely prefers to be left alone in this. At least where her fans are concerned.

Hello,
Sissa and Laure, I coudn't agree more. The fact an actor got an Oscar or Emmy IMO doesn't mean they can play any role. Also it doesn't mean they really deserved that award. Politics and business. If it was all about talent and hard work Maura and several others should have gotten their little statues at home already. The only exception to the rule is, of course, Meryl Streep. She should have gotten all statues for all the roles she has played in her life.

Not sure if you all saw this but Erika C. said in her twitter account that she has watched the PARENTHOOD pilot, said it was great and that the show will be on in March 2010.

I'm sure she's right and the pilot's really good - with Maura. Not nice of her to tease the rest of us who are probably never going to get to see that version of it. And yes, mean person that I am, I'm still holding out hope that the show just goes away between now and March LOL

Hey Taras,
I am with you, I was going to watch P. because of Maura and now I totally lost the interest for it. I don't want to say the cast is not interesting and worth watching, but I have the feeling that the "emotional and healthy good suffering vibe" is gone. I guess "Sarah" was an excellent character for Maura to play. I bet she hated having to let it go.

Hmm...she lost the Emmy just after 9/11......gave up the role of a life time after being diagnosed with breast cancer? Small potatos in the larger scheme of things. I cannot imagine the range of emotions she must have gone through. But I am betting pissed off was a major one. Pissed off at cancer, that is.

I'm with you Larue, I bet there was some salty language directed at her diagnosis. I think being pissed off at cancer is a good thing, it can motivate a person to beat the crap out of it. Maura seems to be such an emotional person, you can only imagine what she's feeling: pissed, scared, motivated, hopeful, strong. My sister went through all of those during her treatment.
Hopefully Maura will have a chance at a different "role of a lifetime." But based on the pilot reviews I do think this role may have given her a great shot at an Emmy nomination and possibly a win. As one blogger said, "its such a shame on many, many levels."
