How could I have let this happen? He asked himself. Every second of every minute he had stood by Abby, watching her so closely until he had learned her by heart. He'd allowed himself to be distracted temporarily by a stupid marriage propsal and while he hadn't been looking, this had happened. In anger at himself, he pummeled the cement. He balled his fist into the cinder-wall again and again. He did this until the blood poured out of his knuckles. He did this until he could be sure that Abby wasn't the only one hurtingPoor Luka, I feel bad for him. Kirstin, you've described Luka's emotions so real, I like the way you are doing it, it's really nice. update soon!!

Ahhhh!!! Sorry guys, my computer has been down for a few days, but the good new is I have had plenty of time to write my fic! Here is a super new part....please enjoy! It is a little short, but I will be updating soon!
“Luka!” yelled Pratt, hauling him away from the wall. Greg surveyed the scene around him; shattered were the surroundings that seemed so familiar; shattered was his spirit. In the last few months he had completely fallen out of love with the world, after discovering the world he thought he knew was a complete lie. He thought angrily back to Michael’s father, and how parents set their kids up for a life disappointment and empty promises.
“Luka? You ok, man? What happened?” Pratt asked, but before Luka could answer, he looked through the door to the limp form on the table.
“Oh my God…is that Abby?” But Luka didn’t need to answer his question.
“Hey…she’ll be ok,” Greg said, patting Luka on the back, lying, because it was the only thing he knew how to do.
***
Meanwhile, in Exam 3…
"How's her pressure doing?" Kerry asked, fixing the oxygen mask around Abby's face.
"Still dropping," Holeh answered, checking one of the bleeping machines which was becoming angrier and louder like a horse changing in pace from a canter to a gallop.
"OK, push the fluids through and get me two more units of O-neg," she called, squinting her eyes and shaking her head. "She's losing blood faster than we can get it in." She took a guilty glance up at Luka who was waiting by the door.
"Pressure's stable," Holeh retorted, unprompted. Kerry looked back up at Luka and smiled with a sigh of relief. Abby was stable. Kerry had saved her, just as Abby had saved Kerry on so many occasions.
"OK, she can go up to OB now. Someone go with her please, and ask them to page me when she wakes up." Kerry through off her gloves into a toxic yellow bin and went to face the rest of the destruction.
"Foetal heart rate is down!" called Holeh above more furious bleeping. Kerry rushed back in.
"What?" Kerry answered. She felt her heart drop. Outside, Luka was feeling a familiar sensation. What was happening? Luka knew the look on the faces of his team; something bad had happened, something unexpected. He could no longer stand by and watch. He stormed through the door, his massiveness almost making the room swell and burst.
"What's going on?" he demanded.
"The baby's heart rate is dropping, it’s probably a placental haemorrhage. We need to deliver now; but if we deliver there is a strong risk that Abby's pressure will drop and she'll bleed out. We can only save one of them."
All eyes in the room turned to Luka. He felt the pressure of a thousand litres of water pushing down on him and the realisation hit him like a tsunami.
Choosing who to save was easy; the hard part was choosing who must die.
* * *
Who will Luka save? Vote now!
Will Luka choose to save Abby?
Or will he choose to save the baby?
You decide!

[glow=red,2,300]That's evil. I can't pick. He could storm out the room, they deliver the baby, survives and Abby only just pulls through.[/glow]

After all this emotional blackmail This is the outcome I have decided upon....please enjoy! Time seemed to stand still in that instant. Involuntarily, his mind flashed back to the week before. “Well, Luka, it’s your ER,” Abby had said. Damn right it was his ER. And Luka wasn’t about to let Abby or his baby die in it. He walked purposefully forward to the table. “Get me the caesarean kit,” he said. “Everyone scrub up.” “Luka, what do you think you are doing?” Kerry asked, confused. “I’m not letting either of them die. We’ll deliver by C-sec and then pack her before she bleeds out.” “Do you really think that will work?” Kerry asked. “It has to,” replied Luka, “Of course Abby’s life comes above the baby, but while there is a chance of saving both of them, I will.” Guiltily, his mind flashed back to another scene. “Some people just aren’t meant to be mothers,” Abby had said, sighing. Luka knew in his heart of hearts that Abby wasn’t one of those people; he had seen the way her face lit up when she saw the sonogram; he remembered the gasp of sheer delight and awe as she heard their baby’s heart beat for the first time; and above all this, he remembered the gleeful sense of life which had possessed her when they realized they were having a baby together. No, he thought, Abby was meant to be a mother. “Luka,” Kerry said, putting her hand on his arm, “Even if you manage to stop Abby’s pressure from dropping like a stone, the baby is still going to be premature. Are you sure you know what you’re doing?” “I have to try!” Luka said, shrugging her off, “Now are you going to help me or not?” Kerry looked at him, questioningly. She looked long and hard before calling “Can I get an extra set of scrubs please?” * * * Luka took the scalpel in his hand. With one final glance at his team, begging them for reassurance, he began his beautiful attack to the accompaniment of bleeping machines. Suddenly surrounding him were the ghosts of his past. His two precious children. His darling wife. He felt a hand on his shoulder. You’re doing the right thing, the voice whispered. He moved with the scalpel fluidly through the layers of Abby’s bulging abdomen. Then, a rush of water and Luka reached into the exposed uterus, feeling for the head of the baby. It was tiny and soft in his palm. Applying gentle pressure, he lifted the baby from its watery boudoir of safety. He noticed his two children standing by Abby’s head, smiling at him. “It’s a girl,” Luka said, and he could not help grinning. As he cut the umbilical cord, he saw the children disappear. Oh, he thought, so this is what they call the circle of life. He passed his tiny daughter to a nearby paediatrician. He had still not heard the baby crying but that wasn’t the issue now. Abby’s life was. A barrage of monitors began to scream like the devil enraged. “Pressures dropping!” someone yelled. Luka swiftly began to tie up the abdomen. He began shaking his head. “There’s too much blood. More suction!” “I’m on it,” said Kerry, offering the tube and draining away the blood. “Push the fluids through!” Luka called, in desperation, trying not to lose concentration and forcing himself to put all thoughts of his new child into the back of his mind. I won’t let her grow up without a mother, Luka thought. . . . . . Will Abby survive? Will the baby survive? Find out next time!
