hey everyone. I'm brand new here, as you might guess, but i've been visiting this forum for a while. I absolutely love it, it's probably the best luby board I have come across.
so well i was recently inspired by well, valentines day for one, and urged by boredom (and lack of new ERs because of the writers strike) to write a little story of my own. i've never written a fanfic, so this is kind of a test run i suppose. just a little luby valentines day love.
a little background: it takes place in the current season, and i think just about everything is the same. so everything that has happened up to the most current episode is the same.
i also dont own any of the characters. they all belong to NBC and ER, im simply borrowing them.
so i guess that's it. hope you guys like the story. i'll put up the first part and if i get some comments, i'll keep posting. so comment if you like it!!
After all they had been through, after everything. And now this. How could he have let it happen? They were perfect, she was perfect. If only… no. it wouldn’t do any good to wonder what might have been. It is what it is. And now it was up to him to put things right. He still loved her, he always had. And he had never broken his promise, he would not let anything come between them.
But what was there? Did she still love him? Was she hurting just like him? He was going to make this right… he had to.
And what a perfect time. Tomorrow was Valentine’s Day after all. He knew that she never liked the holiday, hated it almost. But he would change that. He would make sure that this Valentine’s Day made her forget about all the bad choices. All the mistakes.
He felt her stir beside him. 36 hours. That’s how long he had to plan his perfect night, with the perfect woman. The alarm started to go off. She slammed a sleepy hand onto the snooze button and rolled over to face him, still in a deep sleep despite the alarm. God, she was beautiful in the morning.
He pulled her close to him, drinking in the scent of her hair, her skin. They lay like that for a while, close and still. She was still asleep, that was the only reason she allowed it. Lately they had been more than distant, he hated it but had a feeling that she liked it this way. Soon enough the alarm was blaring again.
“Luka, we have to get up.”
“No we don’t, not just yet.”
But ignoring his protests she moved away and felt her way into the bathroom. She turned on the shower and closed the door behind her. She left it slightly ajar however, allowing Luka catch a glimpse of her as she began to take off her cami and pajama pants. He snuck out of bed quietly and pushed open the door. She didn’t hear him as he came up behind her and slowly , lowered his head to her neck. He began to kiss her neck softly, and right as she began to pull away, Joe reminded them both of his permanent presence as a member of their family.
Oh Joe, why couldn’t you have just waited a few more minutes, Luka thought to himself, sure that he would have been able to convince her. He slipped out of the bathroom and into the baby’s room as Abby stepped into the shower.
“Hey there Joe” Luka whispered to his 1-year-old son. He picked up the fussing child and bounced him all the way downstairs to the kitchen. Just as he was about to make breakfast for him and his wife, after getting their son settled with some mashed bananas, when his phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Hi Luka, it’s Skye.”
“Oh hello. What can I do for you?”
“Well were short an attending today… and I was wondering if you could cover…”
Damn, he was counting on spending the whole day making plans for his Valentine.
“You know I don’t think I can get a sitter on such short notice…” He replied apprehensively.
“Luka, please, no one else can cover. You are my last chance. And I just pulled a double” she pleaded with him.
I guess the plans could be made from work right?
“Alright, I guess I can cover.”
“Oh thanks so much Luka. It really means a lot to me.”
“No problem” he replied grudgingly. “I’ll be there in half an hour.”
Just as he hung up the phone, Abby came bounding down the stairs, looking very rushed and worried. She franticly began rummaging through her bag, as if her life depended on it.
“What’s wrong?” Luka asked, looking at her quizzically.
“I can’t find my damn phone. And Neela was supposed to be calling me this morning. We’re comparing plans for tomorrow.”
He laughed to himself, knowing she had no idea what was in store. Then he picked her phone up off counter and waved it in her direction.
“Thank you!!” She grabbed the phone and dashed back upstairs. He just laughed to himself, making a few mental plans for the perfect Valentine’s Day. He couldn’t wait. After tomorrow everything would be different. Back to the way it was. To the way it is supposed to be.
