This is kind of the introduction chapter for the fic, hopefully is not too boring. Please let me know what you think!!
Background: Luka’s wife died in Croatia and thinking his family needed a change he decided to move to the States with his kids: Jasna, 7 years old and Marko, 4 years old. Abby never had her abortion, she had had a baby girl, Julie who is now 6 years old. She divorced Richard a few months after Julie was born and was now finishing her residency. And just for the record, she is not an alcoholic.
He’d been in Chicago for two weeks. Today was his first day as a doctor in Cook County General’s Emergency Room and tomorrow his kids started school. He still didn’t know if there was a daycare at the hospital and if there wasn’t he would have to find a way of keeping an eye on his kids. Jasna was the sweetest little girl, always so polite and well-mannered like her mother, her dark hair was Luka’s and had loose curls bouncing on her shoulders as she walked. Her eyes and smile on the other hand were all Danijela’s. Marko was the total opposite of his sister: agitated, funny and very outgoing and although the loss of his mother affected him a lot he never lost that young and cute attitude.
As Luka drove to the hospital, while the kids were playing in the backseat he hoped that this new beginning would be good for the three of them.
---------------------------------------
Abby was in the kitchen finishing breakfast when a sleepy Julie slowly climbed down the stairs in her pink Pooh Bear pyjamas.
- Come on Jules, breakfast is ready.
- Thanks, mommy . – She said as Abby placed the pancakes in front of her.
- You’re welcome, sweetie, now eat up ‘cause we’re already late.
- Do I have to go, mommy?? I don’t like to stay in the lounge all day. And Cosmo isn’t going to be there today. – Julie whined.
- Yes, you have to go. I know it’s boring but mommy has to work and dad is away on business so you’ll have to come with me. Come on, hurry up.
Abby buckled Julie up in the backseat, climbed on to the driver’s seat and put on the ‘The Little Mermaid Soundtrack’ on the CD player.
They both sang along all the way to the hospital.
What do you think?? Should I keep going??
BTW I'm working on an update for my ohter story and i'll probably post it tomorrow.
