so...I hope this one says something about Luka and Abby...away...as in on a different continent...away...faaar away hope...not? more sides, pweety pweese... thx for the spoilers ETA: The first thing that popped on my mind was the title, so I asked my friend, the Wikipedia. "Status quo is a Latin term meaning the present, current, existing state of affairs. To maintain the status quo is to keep the things the way they presently are. The related phrase status quo ante, means "the state of things as it was before." Aaaand.... "In non-episodic entertainment, particularly United States TV sitcoms, the "status quo" is nearly always restored at the end of an episode, giving each episode an effectively self-contained plot or story. This assures that the following episode may begin from the same starting point, eliminating the need for the viewer to have knowledge of prior plot elements or to experience particular episodes in the correct order. This has been an essential rule of nearly all non-episodic TV shows since their inception, with all drastic changes usually happening in the premiere or finale of a given season, allowing the creative team to set up a "new" status quo." "Arguing to preserve the status quo is usually done in the context of opposing a large, often radical change" radical change??? back to the point where it all started? So I guess Luka and Abby (if this related to them in any way) are going back to make-out sessions in his SUV? Is he going to start singing again?!? Kidding aside...these last few episodes have been pretty luby-centric so my bet's on the Jeannie storyline ( *sad face* )

Nada on Luka. There's a mention of Abby. Morris wants her put back on the schedule.
Neela's cousin is named Jaspreet. She's (predictably) attractive. Harold gets excited when meeting her (really) and has an asthma attack. We also learn that Harold's girlfriend is history as is his infatuation with Martha Stewart (ew Harold).
Two main patient stories this ep:
Carlos (and they find out his HIV status may now be AIDS).
A female soldier just back from Iraq has been raped by her CO and is 8 weeks pregnant. Does she abort or keep the baby to avoid being sent back?
Pratt is looking to go back to Northwestern. Bettina gives him a pep talk.
Morris gets to be comic relief again and competes with Harold for Jazz on a 'double date' at Ike's with Neela. Such charming behavior as sneezed "bite me's" are exchanged.
Neela's cousin is there as a surprise to Neela. The girl fled home to avoid an arranged marriage to an older, unattractive doctor her father wants her to marry. Neela' thought her uncle was more modern than that.
Ethan (environmental guy) and Grossman (ortho surgeon) are back from previous episodes this season.

From Stormwatcher77 at TEE
Status Quo seems to be an episode where nothing much changes but there is plenty of drama between the beginning and the end.
Neela starts the episode the morning after a party with her unexpected, 20-something cousin Jaspreet but is unhappy Jazz (as she likes to be called) is waking her up, wanting to see the sights of Chicago. Jazz’s intent is to party and sleep with as many guys as she can, thinking this would cause her father to cancel an arranged marriage back in Britain. At the hospital, Jazz follows Neela around, snapping pictures as she works. Crenshaw poses too. It is obvious Jazz admires Neela for coming to the U.S. and tossing aside tradition.
Harold is immediately smitten with Jazz gives her a tour of the hospital, but Morris snatches her away to continue the tour himself and makes a date for drinks with her after work. Harold is jealous and finagles a four-some for drinks, with Neela, and the episode ends with Neela enduring a “party” and her cousin’s presence, just as the episode began.
Pratt treats Carlos is an 8-year-old who fell in gym class, and who knows he is HIV positive. Carlos belongs to Jeanie Boulet. Chuny tells Morris and Pratt who she is, and Haleh is glad to see her. Dr. Daniels also remembers Jeanie. Carlos’ case turns serious after a CT.
Reggie arrives -- the cop that Jeanie married in early Season Six and who is a detective now. Jeanie and Reggie disagree on telling Carlos the diagnosis – a spot on the brain – but they do. Carlos will need more tests to determine what the spot is and Carlos seems to know it is a tumor and that he has AIDS. Carlos seizes and Pratt and Skye disagree on how to stop the seizure. Pratt overrides Skye and Haleh trusts him and follows his lead.
As Carlos is in surgery to obtain a sample of the “spot,” Jeanie tells Pratt the story of when she tested positive and the tough reaction at the hospital and home. She doesn’t want that for Carlos, and Pratt says she’ll make sure it doesn’t happen to him. Jeanie talks about how all the patients she counsels end up in the hospital and the hospice, and threatens that if Carlos dies, she won’t continue. Pratt encourages her to keep doing her work, with Carlos and with others. Jeannie seems convinced – ending up where she was when she arrived at the hospital.
Pratt has a meeting with Anspaugh, and it seems to be a review of some sorts. Betina offers him advice and encouragement, and Pratt wonders why he is so nervous. The review must not have gone well because later Pratt is planning to leave. He tells Frank that Northwestern wanted him once and maybe they’ll want him again. Morris wants Pratt to stay, and when told to get busy with patients, Morris tells Pratt he wants Abby to be put back on the schedule. But later, after Pratt’s conversation with Jeanie, he decides to stay and tells Dr. Daniels so – ending up where he was when the episode began.
Beth is a soldier and fell down the escalator at Bloomingdales. She was brought in by her boyfriend, Jack, who had gone on errands the day before. A pregnancy test comes back and she is 8 weeks pregnant, except she just got back from a tour in Iraq 2 weeks ago. Jack does not take this well and walks out. Beth was sexually assaulted by her sergeant, never reporting it because she felt she needed the other guys in her unit to watch her back. Gates tries to convince Jack to stay but is not sure he was successful. But Jack does come back and is sitting with Beth, holding hands.
Later Jack, Sam and Gates are surprised that Beth wants to keep the baby but Beth says that pregnant soldiers don’t get sent back to Iraq. Everyone argues with her to report the incident and have the abortion. Jack pulls out a surprise – a ring – and Beth agrees to marry Jack, have the abortion, and report the rape. While certainly a great deal of angst is to come, Beth and Jack are back to where they were when the episode started – together and in love.
Neela initially is called on Beth’s case and is able to reset her broken bone (in the ankle?) before the orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Grossman, has a chance to arrive, and he’s not happy. At the bar later, as Neela tries to make good with him, Grossman invites her to do an ortho rotation.
Sam has some sort of health issue at the start of the episode, but is better later.
No Luka or Abby (so far), and only the reference is when Morris wants Pratt to put Abby back on the schedule.

Hmm...I wonder what happened in the last epi then...Did she go to Croatia? Looks like not...Is she going to rehab? Seems probable. Hmm...interested to see what's going to happen in the following episodes.

Really? You think so? If they want to put her back on schedule it could mean one of two things: she either went to Croatia and is just getting back....OR...she is in rehab.
I think it could be a possibility that she is in Croatia, but with what TPTB has done this year it doesn't look very probable. I am hoping she got her drinking issues under control before she flew anywhere, or at least got them resolved there...

If she was in rehad, she wouldnt go back so fast to work
I think that they're in Croatia, but she's going back ... and if Luka was blaming himself for left her alone, he wouldnt leave her alone again ..

I don't think that the precise length of time she has been away is mentioned. Morris just says that it has been "weeks" now, not that it has been two weeks.

Luka may have been blaming himself but Abby made it clear that he must not (and she's right). If he's gone back to Croatia with Joe (for his father's funeral presumably) perhaps she has herself decided that she needs to deal with this alone. She may be in rehab and not told her colleagues that this is what she's doing.
