Chapter 44: “In Your Eyes”
At around 2:30 in the afternoon, Abby finally got a chance to go upstairs and visit Luka. She handed off the chart of her last patient to one of the other nurses. “Here,” she said as she placed the chart in Chuney’s hand and began to walk away. “Hey, hold on!” Chuney called. “What’s this?” Abby turned around quickly and smiled. “Remember that time I took a patient for you?” Abby asked. Chuney shrugged. “Not really,” she said. “Well, I did,” Abby grinned. “So, you owe me.” Chuney laughed. “Go!” She said with a smile. “Go see Luka!” Abby smiled. “Thanks,” she said and then she spun back around and quickly headed towards the elevator.
Abby must have pushed the elevator button 10 times, but it was taking forever. “I’ll just take the stairs,” she mumbled to herself. She flung open the stairwell door and began to quickly make her way up the drafty stairway. Once she had gone up a few flights of stairs, Abby slowed her pace. Suddenly, she was extremely nervous about seeing Luka. She wondered if she would have anything to say to him. Would he even want to see her? Here she was, finally about to see Luka and she was too nervous to keep walking up the stairs. She stopped moving for a moment and closed her eyes. “Stop being so scared!” She though to herself. “That is why you missed out on being with Luka in the first place.” With that thought, she finally began climbing the stairs again, this time, she didn’t look back.
The walk down the long hallway seemed to be in slow motion. Abby lowered her head to avoid seeing anyone around her. She was here for one reason and one reason only. This time, nothing was going to stand in her way. She rounded the corner and a moment later, she stood in front of Luka’s room. Abby stood on her toes and peeped into the glass window of the door, but found nothing but an empty bed. “Great,” she thought as she let out a sigh and rolled her eyes. Again, she’d missed him. She was always just a moment too late.
Suddenly, there was a familiar voice from behind her. “He left,” Luka said softly. Abby spun around quickly in the direction of his voice. She smiled the moment she saw his face again, and he smiled too. Abby laughed and began to walk towards Luka, her smile continued to widen. “What are you doing?” She asked as she came closer to him. “I needed to stretch my legs,” Luka answered. He was standing just a foot or two in front of her now, IV bag in tow. “It’s good to see you,” Luka said, smiling down at Abby. “You look great.” Abby nodded and smiled. “You…look like hell,” she said with a laugh. Luka laughed too. “Too much partying on the plane,” he said.
Then, there they stood. The space between them was obvious and awkward. At that moment, Abby wanted nothing more then to walk up and wrap her arms around him, but as usual, she stood there, smiling dumbly. Once again, silence was between them. “So?” Abby asked shyly. “So?” Luka answered. “Did you get your letter?” Abby nodded. “Did you read it?” She asked. Luka shook his head. “No,” he said. “Well, you’re the only one,” Abby answered. Luka looked down at his feet and back up at Abby. “I think he wanted to try and explain why he stayed,” he said to her. Abby rolled her eyes and looked away. “He saved my life,” Luka added. Abby looked back at him, her face was serious once again. “It’s different over there,” Luka began. “It changes you. I think Carter found himself.” Once again Abby diverted her eyes. “Well, I didn’t know he was missing,” she said with half a laugh. Luka smiled for a moment and then his face grew serious again. “He’s gonna be okay,” Luka added. Abby shook her head. “I don’t wanna talk about Carter anymore,” she said. “I think it was doomed from the start. I’m glad one of us had the courage to put it out of it’s misery.” As she finished speaking, she looked directly at Luka for the first time. She noticed, that from a distance, his eyes had looked the same, but now, close up, they were difference, changed and distant in a sense. “It feels strange to be here,” Luka added suddenly, maybe sensing Abby’s observation. “I think I’ve changed too. Abby nodded her head. “Well, change is good, right?” She asked. “I think I’m way overdue myself.”
As she finished speaking, a doctor came into the hallway and stood beside them. “Luka, you shouldn’t be straining yourself,” she said. “You need your rest.” Luka looked down at Abby and she smiled up at him. “I have to get back to work anyway,” she said. “I’ll stop by tomorrow?” Luka nodded. Abby smiled and turned to walk away, but then hesitated and turned back. “I’m glad your back, Luka,” she said. With that, she walked away. As she headed towards elevator, Abby took the crumbled letter out of her jacket pocket and held it in her hands. Then, without much thought, she tore the letter in half and tossed it into the trash can. After all, there was really no reason for her to keep it. What was there left to hold on to? “Nothing,” Abby thought to herself as she turned and looked back at Luka, he was heading towards his room. She pushed the elevator button and leaned against the wall. She laid her head back against the cold, painted wall and sighed. She hoped the elevator would take forever. She was in no rush to get back to the nothingness she had waiting for her.
The hardest part
And the hardest part was letting go, not taking part It was the hardest part And the strangest thing was waiting for that bell to ring It was the strangest start
I could feel it go down Bittersweet I could taste in my mouth Silver lining the clouds Oh, and I I wish that I could work it out
And the hardest part was letting go, not taking part You really broke my heart, oh And I tried to sing but I couldn’t think of anything And that was the hardest part Oh, oh
I could feel it go down You left the sweetest taste in my mouth The silver lining the clouds Oh and I, Oh and I, I wonder what it's all about I wonder what it's all about
Everything I know is wrong Everything I do, it just comes undone And everything is torn apart Oh, and that’s the hardest part That’s the hardest part Yeah, that’s the hardest part That’s the hardest part

Chapter 45: “The Way Love Feels”
Every day for the past two weeks, Abby had been heading right to the bar after work. She reasoned with herself. “It’s not like you are getting drunk,” she thought to herself. “You are just going to have a few drinks, to get the edge of, that’s all.” And she had to admit, she had a lot of edge to get off. The stress of dealing with everything was really beginning to get to her.
When she drank, Abby let the stresses of the day go. With each sip of beer, she felt the weight of the world lighten up just a little bit. With each empty beer bottle, she watched the painful memories of Carter, Luka, work, everything just disappear. Abby wasn’t stupid. She knew that the pain would come back just as quickly as the buzz wore off, but to her, even this little bit of relief was well worth it.
Abby pulled up out a bar stool and sat down. “The usual?” The bartender asked. Abby nodded her head. “The usual,” she repeated. As she waited for her beer, Abby rested her chin in the palm of her hand and sighed. It was then that she felt a presence beside her. She slowly turned her head around and found Luka sitting beside her. He looked better and she smiled at him. “Hey,” she said, sitting up a little on the bar stool. “Hey,” Luka answered. Abby continued to look at him carefully. “What are you doing here?” She asked. Luka laughed. “I think I should be asking you the same thing,” he said. Abby rolled her eyes. “Well, I’m not the one who almost died of malaria and just got out of the hospital!” She said. Luka rolled his eyes and imitated Abby. “Well, I’m not the one who is a recovering alcoholic,” he added. Abby narrowed her eyes ad then looked away. “Was a recovering alcoholic,” she said quietly. “I think I ruined that now.” Luka shook his head. “It’s never too late to start again,” he said as the bartender returned with Abby’s bottle of beer. “Thanks,” Abby said as he slid the bottle down on the shiny, wooden, bar table in front of her. She quickly grabbed it and held it tightly between her hands. “What can I get for you?” The bartender asked Luka. “Club soda,” he said quickly. “Make that two,” he added as he looked in Abby’s direction. The bartender nodded and walked away.
Abby felt Luka’s eyes on her as she grasped the bottle between her hands. She suddenly felt guilty for her recent behavior. Here she was, sitting next to a man who had almost died helping the poor and suffering of Africa, and she was sulking in her handmade problems. “I’m sorry,” Abby mumbled as she continued to look down at the bottle in front of her. She lifted it from it’s place on the bar and held it there for a moment. Then she turned to face Luka and held the bottle out in front of him. He looked at her carefully and then took it from her hands. “You probably need that more then me,” she said as she nodded in the direction of the bottle Luka had placed before him. Luka looked down at the bottle and then back at Abby. “I don’t think either of us needs this,” he said as he stood up, leaned over the edge of the bar and poured the entire bottle of beer down the drain. Abby watched the golden-colored liquid disappear before her. “No?” She asked with half a laugh. “No,” Luka repeated as he sat back down.
The bartender returned with two glasses of club soda. He slid one in front of Luka and the other in front of Abby, smiling as he took the empty beer bottle from in front of Luka. Abby looked down at the glass of club soda and was silent for a moment. Luka watched her carefully. “Thanks,” Abby said, finally turning back in Luka’s direction. He smiled at her. “For what?” He asked dumbly. “I don’t know,” Abby started as she fingered her hair nervously. “For your timing,” she added with a laugh. Luka laughed too. “Well, I’ve always been good about that,” he said. Abby’s face was serious and Luka noticed it instantly. “Abby?” He asked. She looked up at him. “Yeah?” “Are you okay?” Abby began to nod her head and then changed her mind. “No,” she began. “I mean, not really, no.” Luka narrowed his eyes and looked at her. “Do you want to talk about it?” Luka asked. Abby hesitated for a moment and then nodded her head. “How about we get out of here?” Luka asked. Abby nodded again and smiled slightly. “Okay,” she said as she grabbed her jacket from the back of the chair. Luka stood up and helped her put her jacket on. “Thanks,” she said shyly. Luka nodded and smiled back. Then, they headed for the door.
A Warning Sign
A warning sign I missed the good part then I realised I started looking and the bubble burst I started looking for excuses
Come on in I've got to tell you what a state I'm in I've got to tell you in my loudest tones That I started looking for a warning sign
When the truth is I miss you Yeah the truth is That I miss you so.
A warning sign You came back to haunt me and I realised That you were an island and I passed you by When you were an island to discover
Come on in I've got to tell you what a state I'm in I've got to tell you in my loudest tones That I started looking for a warning sign
When the truth is I miss you Yeah the truth is That I miss you so
And I'm tired I should not have let you go
So I crawl back into your open arms Yes I crawl back into your open arms And I crawl back into your open arms Yes I crawl back into your open arms
The chilly night air wrapped itself around Abby as they began to walk away from the bar. She was surprised that she felt no regret as they made their way away from the bar. “So?” Abby asked as she looked down at her feet. “So?” Luka asked, smiling down at her. “So, how did you know I’d be there?” Abby asked suddenly. Luka shrugged. “Good guess?” He asked. Abby rolled her eyes and elbowed him softly. “No, really?” She asked with a smile. Luka shook his head. “No,” he answered. “I followed you.” Abby let out a quick laugh. “You followed me?” She asked. “So, now you are following me?” Luka laughed. “Well, yes and no,” he said. “I haven’t seen you since the day I came back and I just wanted to talk to you I guess.” Abby smiled. “So, you followed me?” Luka laughed too. “Okay, fine,” he began. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”
The Scientist
Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry You don't know how lovely you are I had to find you Tell you I need you Tell you I set you apart
Tell me your secrets And ask me your questions Oh let's go back to the start Running in circles Coming up tails Heads on a silence apart
Nobody said it was easy It's such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh take me back to the start
I was just guessing At numbers and figures Pulling your puzzles apart Questions of science Science and progress Do not speak as loud as my heart
Tell me you love me Come back and haunt me Oh and I rush to the start Running in circles Chasing our tails Coming back as we are
Nobody said it was easy Oh it's such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be so hard
I'm going back to the start
Abby lowered her head as they headed towards the steps. Then she looked over bridge and out at the bay. “Well, I’m fine,” she lied. She stopped and faced the water, turning her back to Luka. A moment later, she felt him standing beside her. “Well, I don’t believe you,” he said. Abby stared ahead and finally turned to face Luka. “Well, it’s true,” she lied again. “I just have a lot on my mind, that’s all.” Luka watched as Abby stuffed her hands into her pockets nervously. “Abby,” Luka said and then paused for a moment. “You don’t have to be strong all the time.” Abby bit her lip and turned and took a few steps away from him. “Luka,” Abby said as she spun around quickly. “I don’t think you understand,” she said. Luka took a few steps toward her and she turned away. “Well, I’m trying to,” Luka said. “I’ve been trying to all this time.” Abby nodded her head. “I know,” she began. “I know that you’ve been trying and that’s what makes it so hard. Luka, you are such a good guy and I’m such a mess. You deserve….so much more.” Luka shook his head. “Abby, you’re wrong,” he said softly. “We never really talked much about it, but I know so much more about you then you probably even realize. I know you are scared and broken and hurt, but so am I. We are more alike then we are different.”
Abby turned her back to Luka and took a few steps in the opposite direction. At that moment, she wanted to run away. She didn’t want to have this conversation. After all, it had been her avoiding it that had driven Luka away in the first place. Now, here she was, even more battered and broken then ever before and here he was, standing in front of her. Her heart was too broken to share with anyone. What she needed, was for it to be fixed, to be whole again.
Fix you
When you try your best but you don’t succeed When you get what you want but not what you need When you feel so tired but you can’t sleep Stuck in reverse And the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you can’t replace When you love someone but it goes to waste Could it be worse
Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you
And high up above or down below When you’re too in love to let it go But if you never try you’ll never know Just what you’re worth
Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you
Tears stream down your face When you lose something you cannot replace Tears stream down your face And i… Tears stream down your face I promise you I will learn from my mistakes Tears stream down your face And i…
Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you

“I’m scared,” Abby mumbled softly, then she turned around and walked towards the bench near the top of the steps. “I’m scared,” she repeated as she sat down on the bench and lowered her head. Luka smiled slightly as he took a few steps towards Abby and then stood next to her by the bench. He looked out at the water for a moment. He noticed the way the moon was shining down and reflecting in the water and it reminded him of the night of his first date with Abby. So much had happened since then, it was almost unreal. But despite everything, that night was still etched in stone in Luka’s memory. It was painful and terrifying and as everything was between the two of them was, complicated, but it was still beautiful. Everything's Not Lost
When I counted up my demons, Saw there was one for everyday. With the good ones on my shoulder, I drove the other ones away.
So if you ever feel neglected, And if you think all is lost, I'll be counting up my demons, yeah, Hoping everything's not lost.
When you thought that it was over, You could feel it all around. Everybody's out to get you, Don't you let it drag you down.
If you ever feel neglected, And if you think all is lost. I'll be counting up my demons, yeah, Hoping everything's not lost.
If you ever feel neglected, And if you think all is lost. I'll be counting up my demons, yeah, Hoping everythings not lost.
Luka sat down slowly on the bench beside Abby. He watched as she continued to look down at the ground, slowly rocking back and forth, her arms wrapped tightly around herself. Luka reached out and gently placed his hand on Abby’s knee and she quickly looked up at him. “Remember our first date?” Luka asked suddenly. Abby narrowed her eyes and looked at him carefully. “What?” She asked. Luka nodded his head. “Well?” He asked. Abby rolled her eyes. “Well, how could I forget?” She asked. Luka turned to face his body towards her. “Okay, so tell me what you remember,” he said. “Tell me the first thing that comes to your mind.” Abby shrugged and sighed. “Luka, what are you doing?” She asked, but he simply smiled back at her. “Just answer the question,” he said. Abby looked away and then brushed her hair behind her ears. “Do you want the good memory or the bad one?” She asked. Luka laughed. “See, that’s exactly it,” he said suddenly. Abby looked at him. “Luka, I have no idea what you are talking about,” she said. Luka inched himself closer to her and then reached out and grabbed her hand. She looked down at his big, rough hand wrapped around hers and smiled. “Luka,” she stared but he put the thumb of his free hand to her lips. “Let me finish,” he said smiling. “I think you need to hear what I have to say.” Abby shrugged. “Okay,” she said. “Okay, well then tell me.”
Luka shook his head, still smiling. “Abby, we are so much more alike then you even realize,” he began. “And you know, I’ve felt it all along, but I could never find the words to say it. I guess I just never saw it from this angle before.” Abby watched as the smile on Luka’s face widened. “For a while, after I lost my family, every time I thought about them, I only saw one thing; sadness. Every single time I thought about them, my mind became filled with terrible thoughts of watching my family die, of me abandoning them and of me blaming myself. Not once when I thought about them did I see the 10 happy years I had spent with my wife of the memories of my children being born or learning to walk or talk. I only saw the sadness, the death, the sorrow…I forgot that happiness existed.” Luka paused for a moment and Abby looked up at him, her eyes were glazed with tears. “So, what did I do? I tried to make my thoughts of them go away. I tried to act as if nothing had even happened and I tried to pretend that I was okay. I thought that running away would solve my problems. I thoughts that putting thousands of miles between myself and the place where my entire family was buried would make me forget, but it didn’t. It only made the aching grow and the pain didn’t go away. Not at all.”
Luka stood up and once again, he turned and looked down at the moon reflecting on the water below them. Abby turned and watched him. “Then one day, all of that changed,” Luka began. “One night, on a night much like this, I looked out at the moon reflecting on the water and I realized something. I realized that the memories of my family, the one that I cherish and carry with me are the happy ones. And I know that I’ll never be the same person that I was before my family died, but that doesn’t mean I can’t go on living. Losing my family was painful and it broke my heart, Abby, it really did, but I wouldn’t take back the time that I had with them. I wouldn’t change any of the good memories, not for a second.” Luka turned to look back at Abby sitting on the bench but found her standing beside him instead. “Do you know who made me realize that, Abby?” Luka asked. Abby bit her lip and shook her head. “You,” he said softly. “You did.” With that, Luka reached out and ran his finger along Abby’s cheekbone. She slowly raised her blurred eyes and looked up at him. “That night, the night of our first date, I was scared, Abby. With everything that happened, when that man attacked you, it was like I was protecting Daniela and my kids. I thought that by stopping him, I would somehow make up for not being able to save them before. Saving you was my way to do that. But when he died, I realized just how untrue all of that was and that no matter how hard I tried, nothing was going to bring them back or change what I’d done. I realized that I was the one who needed saving,” he said. “So, I ran away like I had done before. I was so scared of the hurt and the pain that I’d felt before, that I didn’t even realize that the path to redemption was right in front of me. Just when I was at my lowest low, there was a knock at my door and at that moment, I realized that second chances don’t come around too often in this life. When I saw you standing in front of me, everything else just faded away. I realized that when I’m with you, I don’t have to run from the painful memories anymore. In fact, when I’m with you, I only remember the happiness. I’d be lying if I said that I’m not sad when I think about my family sometimes, but at least now I can think about them and remember them with love and I’m grateful for that. I’m so grateful for that Abby. I’m so grateful for you.” Amsterdam
Come on, oh my star is fading And I swerve out of control If I, if I'd only waited I'd not be stuck here in this hole.
Come here, oh my star is fading And I swerve out of control And I swear I waited and waited, I've got to get out of this hole
But time is on your side It's on your side now Not pushing you down and all around It's no cause for concern
Come on, oh my star is fading And I see no chance of release I know I'm dead on the surface But I'm screaming underneath
And time is on your side It's on your side now Not pushing you down and all around It's no cause for concern
Stuck on the end of this ball and chain And I'm on my way back down again Stood on a bridge, tied to a noose Sick to the stomach You can say what you mean But it won't change a thing I'm sick of the secrets
Stood on the edge Tied to a noose You came along And you cut me loose You came along And you cut me loose You came along And you cut me loose
When he finished talking, Luka gently put his hands on both sides of Abby’s cheeks and looked into her eyes. “On nights like these, you are the one that comes to my mind. Even when I was alone and scared in Africa, your face was the one that came to my mind. Somehow, when I thought about you, I felt safe and happy, no matter what was going on around me.” Abby shook her head and opened her mouth to speak, but Luka put his fingers on her lips. “I need you to know that, Abby,” he began. “I came back because of you,” he said. “I needed you to know that you have only ever made me happy, despite everything we’ve been through. No matter what you think, you make me happy and no matter how lost or how broken or how scared you are, nothing will change that.” Luka watched as Abby closed her eyes and a tear rolled down her cheek. He leaned down and kissed the tear away. “Nothing,” he whispered softly into her ear. He pulled away and waited for Abby to open her eyes. When she finally did, he smiled at her. “There is something else I want you to know,” Luka began. Abby wiped her cheek and nodded her head. Luka took a step closer to her. “It’s okay to be scared. People get scared Abby,” he said. “I’m scared too.”
Stigmatized
If I give up on you I give up on me If we fight what's true, will we ever be Even if God himself and the faith I knew Shouldn't hold me back, shouldn't keep me from you
Chorus: Tease me, by holding out your hand Then leave me, or take me as I am And live our lives, stigmatized I can feel the blood rushing through my veins When I hear your voice, driving me insane Hour after hour day after day Every lonely night that I sit and pray
Chorus We live our lives on different sides, But we keep together you and I Just live our lives, stigmatized We'll live our lives, we'll take the punches every day We'll live our lives I know we're gonna find our way I believe in you Even if no one understands I believe in you, and I don't really give a damn If we're stigmatized We live our lives on different sides But we keep together you and I We live our loves on different sides, We're gonna live our lives Gotta live our lives We're gonna live our lives We're gonna live our lives, Gonna live our lives, Stigmatized
Abby looked up at Luka and a smile came to the corners of her lips. “I thought I was the only one,” she said softly, lowering her head once again. Luke put two of his fingers under her chin and lifter her head slowly. “I’m just as scared as you are, Abby,” he said. “In fact, I’m terrified.” With that, Luka let out a slight laugh and Abby laughed too. “You are right though, Luka,” Abby said suddenly. Luka looked down at her carefully. “In more ways then one,” she added with a smile. Luka smiled back. “We are so much alike,” she said. “What you just said made me realize that even more.” Abby paused. “From the very beginning, I knew that there was just something about you…something that made me feel closer to you, closer to anyone I’d ever know. You are right, we don’t say the words sometimes, but I think we both know it’s there. It’s like, what we have is something more then words. It’s stronger and deeper then that.” Luka nodded his head and ran his fingers along the side of Abby’s waist and she let out a deep sigh. “And I understand exactly how you feel,” she began, looking into Luka’s eyes. “I’m just like you. I remember the bad, the pain, the sadness and not the goodness. I look back on my whole life with regret and I try to pretend nothing ever happened. On the outside, I act like I’m okay. I walk around with this numbness to life and to feeling and to emotion. I don’t let myself feel because I’m so afraid of being disappointed or of being hurt again. I try not to let anyone get to close and I put up this wall to keep everyone and everything out because I’m afraid that if I find something good or someone that makes me happy, I’ll mess it up.” Luka shook his head. “You won’t mess this up, Abby,” he reassured her. Abby nodded her head and began to speak again. “But you….you caught me off guard. The way I felt with you was so….different. It was like you saw past the mask and you found a way to break down the wall without even trying, and that scared me. That’s why I tried to push you away. That’s why I drove you away.” Luka pulled Abby closer to him. “Abby, none of that matters,” he said softly. “What matters is that I’m here and I’m not going anywhere.”
Green Eyes
Honey you are a rock Upon which I stand And I come here to talk I hope you understand
The green eyes Yeah the spotlight Shines upon you And how could Anybody Deny you I came here with a load And it feels so much lighter Now I met you Honey you should know That I could never go on Without you
Green eyes
Honey you are the sea Upon which I float And I came here to talk I think you should know
That green eyes You're the one that I wanted to find And anyone who tried to deny you, Must be out of their mind
Because I came here with a load And it feels so much lighter since I met you And honey you should know, That I could never go on Without you
Green eyes, green eyes, ohohoh...
Honey you are a rock Upon which I stand.
Abby closed her eyes and Luka felt her arms wrap tightly around his waist. Then she leaned her head against his chest. “I’m still scared, Luka,” she said as she held him closer. Luka opened his mouth to speak, but Abby’s words stopped him. “But for the first time, I’m not scared of being hurt or of the painful memories coming back to haunt me because when I’m with you, all of that is gone. Being with you makes me scared for a totally different reason, you know? It’s like, I can’t even explain it with words almost. When I’m with you, I feel whole and when you’re gone….well…then I feel empty and lost.” Abby looked away for a moment but continues to speak. “While you were gone, I thought about it all of the time. I thought about you all of the time and I realized that I’m not scared of being with you, Luka. I’m afraid of being without you.” Abby looked back at Luka and he smiled. “Being with you feels so good, it’s better then feeling numb and Luka, I don’t want to be numb anymore.” Luka shook his head. “No,” he said with a smile. Abby smiled back.
EMPTY SPACE
too late to hide and too tired to care take what you've learned and forget the rest take what you see of what's left of me you know where I've been and I don't want to go there again
you're beautiful you're confusing you're illogical you're amazing and I've seen the world it's overrated until you're everything I have nothing but an empty space
I've been down this road before all that I've found points me right back to you and I've watch you move from down below where do I go from here I guess I'll find out as I go
you're beautiful you're confusing you're illogical you're amazing and I've seen the world it's overrated until you're everything I have nothing but an empty space

“It’s nice, isn’t it?” Luka asked. Abby laughed. “What is?” She asked, sarcastically. “This,” he said, completely wrapping his arms around her and kissing the top of Abby’s head. “Yeah,” Abby said as she took a deep breath, letting Luka’s scent overwhelm her. She had missed it so much. “Who needs alcohol,” she said with a laugh. “This is like….a natural high.” Luka laughed. “One that doesn’t wear off,” she added, looking up at him. “Well, Abby, that’s love,” he said to her. Luka’s face was serious. Abby’s face grew serious too. “Love,” she repeated softly. Luka ran his fingers through Abby’s hair and leaned down closer to her. Then, he gently kissed her lips. Abby closed her eyes and let his kiss take her away just like it always had. He pulled away and waited for Abby to open her eyes. When she did, she was smiling. “So, that’s what love feels like?” She asked innocently. Luka nodded his head. “Uh-huh,” he said. “It feels good, doesn’t it?” Luka asked. Abby looked up at him, her face serious. “Good isn’t the word,” she said. Luka smiled. “Well then, what is?” He asked. Abby wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him towards her and kissing him gently on the lips once again. “Beautiful,” she said. “That’s how it feels.”
TAKE ME AWAY
this time what I want is you there is no one else who can take your place this time you burn me with your eyes you see past all the lies you take it all away I've seen it all and it's never enough it keeps leaving me needing you
take me away take me away I've got nothing left to say just take me away
I try to make my way to you but still I feel so lost I don't know what else I can do I've seen it all and it's never enough it keeps leaving me needing you
take me away take me away I've got nothing left to say just take me away
don't give up on me yet don't forget who I am I know I'm not there yet but don't let me stay here alone
this time what I want is you there is no one else who can take your place I've seen enough and it's never enough it keeps leaving me needing you
take me away take me away I've got nothing left to say just take me away
take me away take me away I've got nothing left to say just take me away
Luka and Abby stood there silent for a long time, just looking into each other’s eyes. “What are you thinking about?” Abby finally asked. Luke smiled. “Well, what do you think?” He asked with a laugh. Abby shrugged. “About us?” She asked shyly. Luka nodded as he leaned in and kissed her lips. “About us,” he repeated. Abby smiled. “And what do you think about us?” She asked. Luka smiled. “I’m thinking of all of the reasons that make us perfect for each other,” he said. Abby put her hand on Luka’s chest. “That’s easy,” she said. Luka looked down at her and narrowed his eyes. He noticed that her face was serious. “Well?” He asked, leaning his forehead against hers. “Everything,” she whispered softly as she closed her eyes. “Everything.”
